Tomba's Blog

Hey guys! good Ole Tomba here checkin in after a hiatus from all things sports games. Just wanted to say I've been having some ideas i wanted to try out with madden 17s sliders this year that are different from the slider sets that are out in the community threads. As some of you guys know Ive edited madden sliders and rosters since madden 12 and just wanted to see how far things have gotten. recently i picked up madden 12, which was a madden game I really edited the bahjeeziz outta. Looking back at that edit and playing it now I'm interested in seeing how Madden 17 might play out with some of the old logic and maybe some new logic.
I have to say though maddens CORE game has NOT changed much. alot of the games animations assets remain the same from say Madden 12 to even Madden 16...EVEN on current gen (PS4 XBx1). With that said and its my opinion of course i feel that we can learn from our past maddens to truly understand our new maddens AS a editing community of it...
One of the newest realizations Ive come to are... Percentages %'s.
Percentages of how a game actually goes and lends itself to actual flow.
For example... take the broken tackles sliders that USED to be in madden 12.
What would you guys say would be the "average" amount of time you see broken tackles in game? Depending on possession of course, what would you guys estimate it to be? Or is that SOLELY a individual player thing? I don't think so. i think on average(and lets use something REALLY loose here) say that 20% of the time we will see broken tackles in a game...
See! that's it. Gameplay sliders are JUST that. Plays that happen in a game. Success or not. its the average/percentage of what will happen. if you lower ONE it will NOT be seen in game. If you raise ONE it will be seen more.
Now Now...I know this all sounds simple, but think with me here.
Imagine that the sliders worked in a way of gameflow and all we had to do was get the "right" gameflow. Lets NOT kid ourselves madden has always been a Esports Game. Its a competitive online game and thats it... minus a few throw ins for single players not unlike extra leftovers to take home for the always single uncle.
All of the focus by the developers is for simply getting the game to feel like YOU'RE in control. so say if you WANT to throw a bomb WANT to make a crazy run YOU CAN.
Many ppl gripe about the game NOT being realistic...but to be honest has it ever been? OK OK Madden 12 is easily more recently going down as my favorite madden though and plays a BETTER game than ESPN 2k5 easily. sorry 2K faithful but its true BUT i digress and get to the point.
Im going to try and make Madden REAL again and play realistically as a real game would.
I look forward to sharing my sliders for Madden 17.

Once i have a clear concept I can explain in written form to make sense of it it all (ppl want details LOL)I'll create another blog along with a Thread in the sliders section. Play testing might take some time but sooner rather than later I'll have a base set
