Why EA Should Wait To Release NBA Live

I think by now most of us have seen and heard of the debacle that is the release of NBA Live 13. No E3 gameplay, no word from EA for months about it's status, a "pre-alpha" gameplay video that looked like something from NBA Live circa 2007, and a rumor of the game being a $20 digital download being the latest info on the game. With all this being said many still speculate the game to be cancelled or delayed. The main reason being, non of this is being confirmed by EA.

On top of all that 2K Sports has done nothing but promote everything they can about NBA 2K13. New gameplay, new My Player additions, new features like the Ultimate Team like My Team, and signature skills show us gamers that they decided to not take a year off and instead improve the game vastly, something EA has been notable for not doing.

With this much of a gap in knowledge it's not to far fetched to think that EA might be trying for the $20 digital download. The $40 gap would be enough to draw a few greedy eyes over to NBA Live, and any desperate gamers that have run into a sold out NBA 2K at their local stores might be tempted to look into NBA Live. You also have to think of the 2K gamers that would like to just see what Live is like and go ahead and purchase it for the low price anyway. Not a bad strategy but still that ugly phrase "not confirmed" still hangs over this rumor.

With all of this info against EA I think it would be better to just take another year off and improve the game into a $60 purchase. EA has the development team to make a great game of basketball and they should. If that takes another year then so be it.

On an unrelated note, EA their's still FIBA and Olympic basketball....
