UFC Undisputed vs Fight Night
Posted on May 13, 2009 at 06:34 PM.
I know I know, why do people compare the two ? Honestly I don’t know why, other then the fact they are both sports fighting games. Fight Night been around for a decade now. They use to be called Knockout Kings and I been playing their games since the PS1 days.

Overall this is the 4th UFC game. They had one on the Dreamcast, one on the xbox and 2 on the PS2. They all were modest at best. None of the controls were complex. Didn’t have a ton of moves or anything.

Now moving on to UFC Undisputed, made by THQ. This THQ’s first time making a mma game. In the past they made WWE games. And for their first time, they hit out of the park.

UFC Undisputed have 82 fighters, all of them current active fighters. A handful have moved on and are fighting for other mma organizations however. Fight Night don’t even have half the number of fighters. And a good number of their fighters are legends. Meaning they don’t fight anymore anywhere period. So for number of fighters I have to give the edge to UFC Undisputed.

Commentary….I have to give the edge to UFC Undisputed as well. THQ did a great job in that department. Playing this game makes you feel like you watching a PPV. To hear them saying stuff that is actually going on during the fight is amazing. Fight Night on the other hand, isn’t as deep in their commentary. Still good though.

Overall both games are good. Boxing fans will love the fact that finally they get to play as Mike Tyson. However they are missing some well known fighters such as Mayweather, Hopkins, Tarver, etc. Some at EA say they couldn’t afford them. That maybe true, might not be true. But I am pretty sure they all weren’t asking for a lot of money like Mayweather was.

UFC Undisputed is only missing one well known fighter, and that is Randy Coutoure. So one compared to around a dozen isn’t a lot.
There really isn't a need to create a flame war.

Think of it as a good thing. UFC Undisputed is just one more sports game that you can buy on a regular basis. Can never have too many sports games right ?

I also don't understand why people compare them. They're total different things. I probably will buy FNR4 first then UFCUndisputed2009 next. Both of them will be tested with demos and watching gameplay videos.

The demo of UFC was amazing. The control was fairly easy, except the submissions, and the graphics were nice. I liked to commentary over any game I recently played, and they knockouts were nice too. I liked how they got bruises and cuts on the face, and if you keep on aiming at their body or legs they get bruised up reddish also. UFC have the edge on me because I actually know their fighters unlike Boxing. They have 82 as stated. Only thing I hate is the CAF (Create a Fighter) mode, its really not detailed to my likings, that is where Fight night wins me over.

Fight night Round 4 will be using the option where you can upload your face onto their site, and download it with ur 360 or ps3 to make a almost exact replica over the players. So people like mayweather you can make them in the game, doesn't matter if they weren't included. You'd need to find great photos though.

At the end UFC is a bit too easy for me *taking out the submission, the demo was to easy, maybe it was just the demo.

FNR4 is a bit faster, it improved since fnr3 and i like the player models, the styles, the enviroment, and most of all the option of making fighters/ characters like facebreaker and tiger woods golf game.

Good stuff. But one thing wrong....

Fight Night actually will have more than half of UFC's total fighters. UFC's boasting 80 (82 with the two DLC fighters). But Fight Night is estimating between 45 and 50. Still not 82 but thats a lot for Fight Night.

I do agree I wish more of them were current though.
