Note: These are NOT "No Switch Rule" Sliders, as much as they are "Play Defense" sliders...I rush as a DL / break the pocket, switch to tackle in the run game and occasionally switch to swat a pass...you don't have to be a controller jockey or button mash, but you do have to participate FULLY on D...

Big Thanks to Trojan Man for helping me with the set in both the development and testing phases, as well as StefJoeHalt, who also helped fine tune and test the set. JoshC also had some great insights re: penalties / concepts, that were implemented into the set...

The goal was to remain true to AP Default while addressing the following issues:

1) Lack of CPU run game

2) Too easy to move the ball on offense for the HUM

3) Not quite as challenging as desired, with regard to the overall performance by the CPU

4) No fumbles, that seem to be brought out a bit more by having fatigue at 70 and the "arm tackles" versus "body tackles" at the lower setting (45)

This is the set that we agreed addressed those concerns and brought about the most "Stat Accurate" results in all major and minor statistical categories. Nothing is perfect (lack of fumbles, etc.), but as seasoned players know, this is a title of "trade offs".

The "little stats" like Pancakes / BTK / YAC for HBs / etc. have all been addressed and "leveled out" between the HUM and CPU players, to the degree that it can be!

Enjoy!

@Hilman11:

Thanks for weighing in on the tuner and happy to hear the set continues to hold up for you over a large sample...

King, been rolling with your set for 5 games in my CFM. Been going back and forth between yours and Josh's. I just like the 15 min qtrs and cpu running game is good with these. One question:

Anyway to tone down the roughing the passer calls without ruining something? Last game the cpu was called for 5 of them and i usually end up declining them because i feel like its unfair. Any suggestions? Thats the last thing keeping me from enjoying the game to the fullest.

I have no idea why I don't get the RTP calls as often as some others do, but...

It SEEMS as though as long as the Main Menu value stays at 55, the CFM value can drop a bit further than originally expected...

I have RTP @ 55 (Main Menu) / 53 (CFM), but I don't think things will go to heck if you try 55 / 52...

I'd really try to avoid going below that though, or the CPU QB sits back there all day, etc...

Since there's no "Personal Fouls" or "Unnecessary Roughness" and DPI calls are fewer than IRL, one or two extra RTP calls per game is a decent tradeoff...

However, if it's well more than that, adjust away!

Thanks. Yeah i don't mind a few here and there but it was getting ridiculous. Will try 55/52

east,

I'm in my fourth season with this set. The first season I had RTP at 55/53. I too was getting way too many calls, sometime 5 per game. I lowered to 52 and it dropped the totals drastically.

Still seeing about 2 per game, but it flucctuates. Sometimes more, sometimes I don't see any. I user the OLBs or sometimes DEs, so I'm constantly rushing the QB. I've learned that I just have to be wary; if I know I'm not getting to the QB on that particular play, I've got to be conscious of not moving my stick toward the QB. 95% of the RTPs I see are my guy "walking" into the QB after the play, which can be frustrating.

Yeah, I'm at 55 / 53 and only see a couple (total) per game...

It's interesting how this seemingly minor adjustment plays so differently for some than others, etc...

I also was having a USER RTP issue until I got a little more proficient at breaking the pocket, but not "walking into the QB" as you describe...

One thing that works is to hit the L1 (defensive assist) trigger when your USER rusher is no longer visible, since the ball is already out, etc...

It'll cause them to "pull up" before the hit...

The other option is to "break the pocket" (which will force the ball out), but not go directly after the QB...

I sometimes (intentionally or not) end up taking a wide angle, which forces him to scramble into another rusher (rare) or throw the ball away under duress (more common)...

At any rate, I'm glad to see you're enjoying the long term benefits of the set...

It's held up nicely for me as well and the gameplay gets even better as the seasons play out...

Regards!

Is almost ALWAYS undisciplined guys that get flagged for it

# 113 KingV2k3 @ Mar 2
Well, you can try 52 or even 51 inside CFM...it appears with this set, having the Main Menu's RTP at 55 (which is where it was when I originally "built the house") will continue to keep things fairly stable...

As far as the "undisciplined" trait goes:

That seems to be the commonality for most / all calls...

One touchy modifier there...

Dude, I gotta say I love your sliders. I've been using a set with really low QB accuracy and high pass coverage in order to stop robo QB from appearing. The problem was, it made passing rally hard for non elite QBs and it made for some wonky gameplay.

QBs had all day in the pocket, no matter how many guys I sent and pass reaction was weird...the DB would run the receivers route better than the receiver would.

Anywho, I loaded up your set, and set about playing the Steelrs with Big Ben. With pass accuracy at 50, I was expecting to get demolished with a 20/22 350 y 4 TD performance....but it wasn't so ! I'm using the Raiders, who in year 2018 are starting to get really good. Ben had a good day (23/34, 300 y, 3 TD, 1 int ) but it was the turnover that got them in the end. I won a shootout 46-32 and had a lot of fun. Leveon bell did his thing, and ran all over me, with the pretty good Steelers line opening holes. I did get a few critical sacks and had a pretty good day throwing ( my QB 70% 4 TDs, no ints) which was the difference.

One thing I noticed: blocks in the back are out of re were like 6 by me and 2 by the CPU....but I'm willing to live with that. Play calling was really varied by the CPU and it was refreshing. I got punted on the ground, but it's the steelers. ..well see what happens with a few more games.

Love em so far!

Played a second game with your sliders. They are still great. I can really feel the difference between teams and especially opposing QBs. It turns out the Cheifs are not as good as the Steelers, and I dominated in the second half after only being up one score in the first.

Games are more fun for sure! It's so crazy how the computer still only throws for 65-70% completions tops. Alex Smith in this last game ended up about there with one int. He scrambled like the real Alex and made some clutch throws on third down. Kept his team in it for awhile, but I ground them down in the second half.

@Josiphos:

Glad you're enjoying the set...

Thanks for the detail...looks like things are playing out for you "as intended"...

As far as the IBITB penalty goes:

I have a rare game with the higher numbers you describe, but then it evens out...

If for some reason that keeps up for you, dropping the CFM value to 51 shouldn't set things off much, if at all...

But I'm admittedly guessing on that, haven't tried it yet myself, etc...

Thanks for weighing in...

# 117 Josiphos @ Mar 7
I'll check back in as I play more games. Your set is one of the few that plays real close to default.

Yes the BITBs are annoying, but it's a common enough NFL penalty and both teams get them so....

There also seems to be more holding calls on sweep plays. I had one drive that was comical...had like 4. I'd run around the end, get a penalty, end up converting somehow then run another sweep and like clockwork, boom another holding call. Was a bit annoying.

Question for you: if I was to reduce the hum accuracy to say 45, should that tip over the dominos? Would I see an affect?

# 118 KingV2k3 @ Mar 8
Unfortunately, lowing HUM QBA to 45 will result in the CPU "overplaying the run" and loading up the box...

The relationships between QBA and FUM are major determining factors in CPU playcalls...

In this instance, FUM at 50 / QBA at 45 will make the AI "perceive" that you're more of a threat running the ball, etc...

If you want to try and make it tougher to pass, the only option left is to continue to lower HUM PBK to 15...

Less "total passing points" in the passing subcategory and less time in the pocket is the only route left that won't mess up the playcalls...

Regrettably, the screen game is already tough to pull off at 20, but it is what it is...

As far as the holds go:

Holds on sweeps increase when you "pick the wrong hole" and either cut it outside the OT when you'd be better off cutting back to the inside gap...

Or vice versa...

That isn't always the cause, but it is a factor...

Hey dude! Checking back in after a few more games.

I was a little worried that your sliders were "pinball mode" as every game turned into me scoring 45 points and the computer 42. But, that's just a function of the teams I was playing!

I'm happy to report that I had a 18-17 LOSS and a 26-18 win ( Bill defense is legit) and an epic game last night vs the 2018 version of the Seahawks. I won 28-21 and it was a defensive battle that was only over when Wilson threw a pick with 1 minute to go (when the computer is usually unstoppable)

All in all great sliders. I compromised and moved the human and CPU passing down to 48, but maybe I'll turn them back up. I had a game against Philip Rivers (the 45-42 above) where he was just unstoppable....but I guess that just happens....he is a great QB.

With pass block at 20, there's so little time to throw as it is...can't imagine going lower. I have noticed screens are essentially worthless now...so hard to run. Didn't know they'd be so wonky.

# 120 Josiphos @ Mar 10
I guess I should add: the CPU run game at 75 block is tough. They get 7-8-9 yards a carry if I don't commit lots of run blitzes. It seems a bit strong. Any way to turn it down 5%?
