We're not even a day beyond the release of EA Sports UFC 2 and we already have new fighters added to the game.

In this video, I spend some time breaking down Jessica Aguilar (Women's Strawweight) and Sage Northcutt (Men's Lightweight) -- the two newest additions to the game.

Nearly 25,000 college football and basketball players were determined to have a valid claim to the class action settlement with EA over the use of player likenesses in their college games.

The average player will receive a $1600 check in the settlement -- with lawyers in the case taking a 30 percent cut of the award.

Former UCLA basketball player Ed O'Bannon, former Rutgers quarterback Ryan Hart and former Nebraska and Arizona State quarterback Sam Keller will get the biggest cut amongst players, estimated in the $15000 range.

At this point, the odds of seeing a college sports video game again are still quite low in the next calendar year -- as it would seem that legal structures to protect game makers and schools would need to be enacted for a renewed effort to begin. At this time there hasn't been much push for such structures to be enacted -- at best we are probably a couple of years away from a return of college sports games.

The more realistic outcome, however, is that we'll be waiting for quite a long time for a return of NCAA Football or NCAA Basketball.

When we heard the folks over at HB Studios, creators of The Golf Club, had a new project coming, our ears perked up a little bit.

When we heard that the new project, entitled Infinite Air, was an open world Snowboarding game which was going to offer the same open world, level building, and skill-based gameplay which made The Golf Club so great -- there were a few confetti parties planned.

Recently we got a chance to ask Peter Garcin, Executive Producer at HB Studios, a few questions about Infinite Air and what we could expect with their newest title. Check out our conversation after the jump!

EA Sports UFC 2 hit stores today and we've been sinking our teeth into this year's game. Here are a few impressions after a couple hours of gameplay. Big thing to note is much of my time has been spent playing within the practice/skills trainer mode to get a good handle on the controls (highly recommended).

Look for our review on the site later today or early tomorrow!

A couple of days ago, EA Sports added the 2016 home of the US Open to Rory McIlroy PGA Tour: Oakmont Country Club.

There's a lot to like about this new course -- which hosted its first US Open in 1927.

First, the greens present a very tough challenge with some incredibly difficult breaks to manage. Secondly, the elevation and length variety amongst each hole is some of the best in the game.

Be sure to check out my full video review above, all in all I give Oakmont a big thumbs up.

In case you missed it, a new title update hit yesterday with a brand new course added to Rory McIlroy PGA Tour: The TPC Stadium Course at PGA West.

I spent some time today playing a couple of rounds at the new course and put together this video review with some footage of some of the holes around the course and some thoughts on how it plays. At this point, Rory is amassing quite a good variety and number of courses with plenty of DLC add-ons.

Check out my thoughts on the video above! Add your own in the comments below!

During the NCAA general convention, the issue of athlete's being able to monetize their likenesses -- even for non athletic ventures, was not voted on despite the Pac-12 Proposing the measure.

In effect, the NCAA tabled the measure and may pick it back up next January when the general convention meets again -- but there was no sign of real movement for the measure at this convention.

In fact, there wasn't much movement on any real issues of substance at the convention. It does call into question what the point was of having so much new authority given to Power Five conferences with no real movement in year two on issues that truly do matter to both student athletes, fans, and schools.

On the gaming side, this means that any hope of a college sports video game is put off another year as well. As we've written about in the past, to get a college sports video game in the future will almost certainly mean athletes will be able to monetize their likenesses and licensing for players will occur. No gaming company will risk anything short of a 100% guarantee of no legal liability when it comes to using college teams and marks in games at this point -- nor will schools.

It doesn't help things that EA had a poorly timed (and rather cruel) PR stunt last week, which appeared to signal there were signs of life with the franchise. However, it does seem that thanks to a lack of action from the NCAA -- the franchise appears more dead than ever. Given the time it'd take to get a game to market (likely at least 18-24 months from scratch), you are talking about a long wait for a new college football game indeed.

EA Sports posted an initially cryptic video on the NCAA Football Facebook Page today which appeared to 'show signs of life' with a heartbeat monitor.

However, instead of a cryptic announcement of an impending announcement of the game coming back, it appears the tweet was actually meant to be to mark the National Title Game tonight. Honestly, if that's the case its the worst way ever to do it -- as with nothing seemingly in development you basically are posting a video that'd make most everyone think you meant something about a 'dead' game series.

From what we know, and from what others have been told via EA, there either isn't an NCAA Football game in development right now and/or there is one under development that EA outright denies at this point and has locked up as an insanely well kept secret.

It doesn't help either that the caption of the video is "Our heart still beats for the big game... ‪#‎NationalChampionship‬" so it would seem to be about tonight's game vs. an announcement of a new NCAA game. However this is the first new post in two years on the Facebook page, so why now of all times?

With the NCAA meeting happening this week, along with the National Title game, the timing and content of the video was certainly odd and not well thought out if its not to pre-announce something -- but who knows. Maybe this is EA's way of saying something is coming eventually and we'll all be screaming for joy when that happens. It's entirely plausible this is a tease for an ad in tonight's game announcing a comeback -- it's also entirely plausible this is just a bad PR stunt by a company that probably should be above that sort of thing.

UPDATE: The official Twitter page has also posted the following updates...

We have no new plans or announcements to make regarding the EA SPORTS NCAA Football series.

Today’s #NationalChampionship game reminds us more than ever that the hearts in our community still beat for college football.

Supporting a game after launch is the most important aspect for any sports game these days. It's imperative on a base level in terms of updating rosters to ensure the sport people are watching on TV is the same as the one they're playing on their consoles or PCs. But beyond that, improving what's wrong while also adding something new to experience is the new expectation. In terms of post-launch support, there were lots of solid efforts by sports game developers this past year. In a lot of ways, it felt like developers started to figure out the best ways to make an impact, and moving forward this category should become even more competitive.

2015 brought with it few big surprises in the overall sports gaming landscape. The biggest surprise (and it was a pleasant one) was Rocket League — a game with a ‘so obvious why wasn’t this done before premise’ with cars playing soccer (and then later ice hockey).

Outside of that, 2015 had a pretty good run of quality titles and few missteps. In that regard, covering sports games this year was pretty pedestrian. There was no real scandal and no real big, earth shaking events in the genre.

As we look ahead to 2016, will that change? I’m going to give three predictions in a bit, but fist lets look at a few of your predictions.
