Peaks and valleys are a part of life and baseball. With that in mind, some of the guys on the list below are on the normal path of decline, some are young guys with long careers ahead of them, and one is still great, just not as much. However, all five of them deserve at least a slight drop in MLB 09: The Show. 5. Todd Helton - After taking advantage of Coors Field for the past decade or so, eventually Todd Helton was going to cool off. His home run totals have dipped over the years, but his batting average and on-base acumen were more than enough to keep his spot in the lineup. However, last year had to be tough for Helton. He missed half the season due to a back injury, and he only hit .264 when he was active. With a lot of players up in the air and Matt Holliday no longer slugging in Colorado, Helton could go to a team in need of a quick fix. If you try to trade for him in your franchise, be wary of his no-trade clause.

Super Bowl XLIII is over and Opening Day is two months away, so instead of Willie Parker or Ryan Howard we have Tony Parker and Dwight Howard. The NBA season is hitting its stride now and the All-Star Game is less than a week away. In September, I made my All-Star predictions here. The real NBA All-Stars were revealed last week, so I will take a look at my slam-dunk predictions (along with a few air balls), and see how NBA 2K is gauging the talent level of some players at this point in the season.
I nailed seven of the 12 players for both conferences, including coach Mike Brown for the East. In both cases, I had four of the five starters correct. I did not choose Allen Iverson to play guard in the East, because he was still on the Denver Nuggets. I also put in Carmelo Anthony to start at forward, but Tim Duncan got the nod.

Is 2009 the year of the fighting game? Street Fighter IV is coming out next month; King of Fighters XII will be out sometime after that; and there are two huge releases for sports fans this summer, UFC Undisputed and Fight Night Round 4. While information is light on FNR4, there is definitely enough to begin speculating. When it comes UFC Undisputed, THQ is clearly pushing the game hard; it seems like there is a weekly press release. The contrasting approaches THQ and EA are taking when it comes to showing off their wares perhaps has something to do with being a known commodity, and simply being unknown.
Either way, as fans debate which sport is better, these games might help or hurt their arguments. Therefore, it is time to start analyzing two games that will be battling for fighting game supremacy in the not-so-distant future.

The Major League Baseball season is long and grueling, and players go hot and cold at the drop of a hat. But while most starting players get hot at some point, most fans do not expect them to keep it up. The players being highlighted in this article were not expected to take their streaks through most of the 2008 season, but they did. Some of them have been in the league for years, some of them are younger guys who never reached their potential, and the others will be tearing up the league for seasons to come.Read More - Juiced Ratings: MLB Players Who Will Be on the Rise

Every year we hear about all these grand improvements being made in sports games. More times than not, though, these improvements are minimal at best. Remember all of the speculation and excitement before this generation of consoles began? The Madden target videos, Ray Allen dripping sweat, and the promise of "next-gen" physics and gameplay had everyone excited. Now, years later, it is time to actually take a step forward. Strides have been made year to year, but these are three things that must be standard in sports video games in '09. Even though Christmas has yet to pass, it is never too early to talk New Year's Resolutions. These are sports-gaming's New Year’s Resolutions for 2009.

The Major League Baseball Hall of Fame is probably the most respected and thorough collection of legends in any sport. Whether all of the ex-players that get in should or not is up for debate, but their virtual counterparts do not get any credit when the writers get together to vote. So instead of simply going by real-life accomplishments, this is the MLB Hall of Fame class of 2013, in video game form. The four players up for debate are separated into wings, like in the real Cooperstown.

For a lot of MLB fans, the offseason is all they can look forward to. After watching their squads get trounced in September, landing a big free agent or making a big trade can do wonders for a fan base's psyche. It has been a relatively quiet offseason so far, but that is likely to change in the very near future. I simmed the MLB offseason in MLB 08: The Show for PS3. This is what transpired.

The SmackDown series has been around for about as long as WWE Superstar Edge. In that time, he has been on the bottom as a member of the Brood; he has won the tag-team titles multiple times; dropped Christian and worked himself up to Intercontinental Champion; and now he is the current WWE Champion. Can you say the SmackDown series has been as successful? Well, read the review to find out if SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 is the current title holder.Read More: WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 Review

The holiday season is usually when the highest profile games are released. Retailers can expect to boost their bottom lines (maybe not this year) and gamers can rejoice in knowing where their time is going during the winter months. What about sports gamers though?
Most of the major sports games come out between the end of March and the beginning of October. There is still Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 and NCAA Basketball 2009 (along with a few alternative-sports titles), but the point still stands. You could easily catch up on old games but where’s the fun in that? Here’s how you should spend the holiday doldrums gaming.

Every year with every game release there are certain teams gamers favor when they hop online. Sometimes gamers throw aside team allegiances in favor of taking the team that will give them the best chance of winning (ie the best rated teams in the game).
