65 Shots against in that Game. Really gotta give Lehner some credit there. He stood on his head. I think that's the most shots against I've ever seen in a Game.

Also the PK Going 5/5 is just bonkers. Especially against McDavid and Drais.

Western Conference Finals Preview: Golden Knights Face Surging Kraken in High-Stakes Battle

May 16th, 2025

Seattle edged out Vegas 2-1-1 in a tightly contested season series.

The Western Conference Finals are set, and it’s a clash between two very different playoff stories. The 1st-seeded Vegas Golden Knights, who have been dominant all season, will face off against the 7th-seeded Seattle Kraken, who are riding a Cinderella run through the playoffs.

Game 1 is scheduled for Sunday, May 18th, at T-Mobile Arena, where Vegas will look to defend home ice against a Kraken team that has already taken down Nashville and Winnipeg in the first two rounds.

Seattle won the regular season series 2-1-1, outscoring Vegas 13-10, showing they are more than capable of competing with the Western Conference’s best.

Vegas entered the postseason as a Stanley Cup favorite, and they’ve delivered. The Golden Knights eliminated Calgary in four games and then survived a tough six-game battle against Edmonton, proving they can win in different ways.

Led by Jack Eichel, who has been unstoppable with 20 points in 10 playoff games, and the veteran leadership of Mark Stone and Max Pacioretty, Vegas has balanced scoring, elite defense, and playoff-tested experience.

Goaltender Robin Lehner has been steady between the pipes, backstopping a resilient Vegas squad that has shown an ability to shut down some of the NHL’s top scorers.

“We’ve been playing strong hockey, and we know what’s at stake,” said Vegas interim head coach Bruce Cassidy. “Seattle has earned their spot here, but we’re focused on playing our game and sticking to our identity.”

While Vegas has met expectations, Seattle is defying them. Entering the playoffs as the 7th seed, the Kraken pulled off upsets over Nashville sweeping them in four games and Winnipeg in six, proving they can handle adversity and step up in the biggest moments.

Seattle’s offense has been surprisingly potent, with depth scoring from players like Matty Beniers, Oliver Bjorkstrand, and Jared McCann. Their defense, led by Adam Larsson and Vince Dunn, has kept high-powered teams in check.

Goaltender Ilya Sorokin has been spectacular, often stealing games for Seattle with his clutch performances.

“This team believes in each other,” said Kraken head coach Dave Hakstol. “We know Vegas is a powerhouse, but we’re here for a reason. We’ve beaten good teams, and we’ll be ready for the challenge.”

KEY MATCHES

Jack Eichel vs. Ilya Sorokin

Eichel has been the top player in the playoffs, leading the NHL in scoring. Sorokin, meanwhile, has been lights out for Seattle. If the Kraken want to continue their Cinderella run, their goaltender will need to steal a game or two.

Vegas’s Defense vs. Seattle’s Depth

Vegas boasts one of the league’s strongest defensive cores with Shea Theodore, Alex Pietrangelo, and Brayden McNabb. Can they contain Seattle’s balanced attack, or will the Kraken find ways to break through?

Special Teams Battle

Seattle struggled on the power play in the regular season but has been better in the playoffs. Vegas, on the other hand, has a lethal man advantage. Whoever wins the special teams battle could have the edge in the series.

This series is a clash of styles—Vegas is battle-tested and built for a deep playoff run, while Seattle is riding a wave of confidence and proving doubters wrong.

The Golden Knights have the edge on paper, but if Seattle has shown anything this postseason, it’s that they won’t back down from anyone.

With Game 1 at T-Mobile Arena on May 18, the stage is set for what could be an epic Western Conference Finals showdown.

Eastern Conference Finals Preview: Maple Leafs and Rangers Set for Heavyweight Showdown

May 16th, 2025

Toronto dominated the Season Series 3-0-0.

The top two teams in the Eastern Conference will clash in what promises to be a thrilling series as the 1st-seeded Toronto Maple Leafs take on the 2nd-seeded New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Both teams have been dominant throughout the season and playoffs, making this a true battle of hockey heavyweights. Game 1 is set for Monday, May 19th, at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.

The Maple Leafs swept the regular-season series against the Rangers, going 3-0-0 while outscoring New York 13-7. Toronto’s high-powered offense proved too much for the Rangers during the regular season, but playoff hockey is a different beast.

“They’re a deep, talented team, and we know we need to be at our best,” said Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette. “The regular season doesn’t matter now—it’s all about who plays the best hockey over the next two weeks.”

The Maple Leafs have been an offensive powerhouse, led by Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and William Nylander. Matthews has been particularly dominant, leading the team in goals, while Marner’s playmaking ability has been crucial on special teams.

Toronto’s goaltending duo of Ilya Samsonov and Joseph Woll has been solid, but they will be tested by a deep Rangers forward group.

“This is the series we expected,” said Leafs captain John Tavares. “We know what kind of team they are, and we’re ready for a battle.”

The Rangers have been one of the best defensive teams in the playoffs, thanks to their elite blue line featuring Adam Fox, Jacob Trouba, and K’Andre Miller. Their forwards, led by Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, and Chris Kreider, have stepped up in big moments.

Of course, Igor Shesterkin remains the ultimate x-factor. The Vezina-winning goaltender is capable of stealing games, and the Rangers will lean on him heavily against Toronto’s high-flying offense.

“Toronto is an offensive force, but we’re confident in our structure,” said Rangers captain Zibanejad. “We’re built for this type of series.”

Key Matchups to Watch

Auston Matthews vs. Igor Shesterkin

Matthews has been lights out this postseason, but he’ll be facing the best goaltender he’s seen yet. If Shesterkin plays at an elite level, he could be the difference in the series.

Special Teams Battle

The Leafs have thrived on the power play, but the Rangers’ penalty kill has been one of the best in the league. Can Toronto continue their success with the man advantage?

Toronto’s Speed vs. New York’s Physicality

The Leafs rely on quick transitions and skill, while the Rangers bring physicality and a structured defensive approach. The team that dictates the pace could control the series.

This series features two elite teams, deep rosters, and elite goaltending, making it one of the most anticipated matchups of the playoffs.

Toronto has the firepower and home-ice advantage, but New York has the defensive structure and goaltending to counter it. Expect a tough, physical, and emotional battle that could go the distance. Expect Game 1 on May 19th at the Scotiabank Place to be explosive as both teams hope to set the tone.
