Re: Madden 09 Cover Athlete: Brett Favre

This going to cause a frenzy in Wisconsin with all the Brett Farve merchandise junkies who have to buy his product in bulk!
One of the SI writers who covered Farve his whole career was on our sports talk radio morning show saying how he wanted to thank all the people in Wisconsin for putting his daughter through college because at $40,000 a year he could not have done it without us.
Can you imagine how many copies this game could sell from non gamers even buying this just because of him, good move EA!

Sorry, but recent studies out of the 'University of Scienceness and Unsupportable Claims' shows that Richard Newbill, back-up linebacker for the seahawks (90-92) actually competed harder then any athlete ever. Its a fact.

Happens a lot when the haters have too much media about and around Favre. They will enjoy it more when the game comes out in August because they will see his face in the video game section for the next year.

How does having a player that doesn’t do a lot of press, doesn’t go to parties, doesn’t play video games, and ISN’T CURRENTLY PLAYING IN THE NFL help promote your game in anyway?

Why not just slap Madden on the cover for the 20th edition? That makes 100x more sense than this.

EA is more clueless than ever. Sounds to me like they signed a deal with Farve already and then he retired and they are too lazy or unable to back out of it.
LOL @ this post. Most of the criticism i've seen has been the very fact that EA always has to find some athlete to promote some stupid new feature, like a WR means there'll be some new WR gimmick or a HB means some new HB gimmick mode.

Then this year they go away from that and folks crawl out of the woodwork to curse EA for putting an NFL Legend and future HOF on the cover who won't relate to some in-game gimmick or feature.

Great example of no matter what EA does they will have someone crying about it. Classic.

Re: Madden 09 Cover Athlete: Brett Favre

I can tell you one thing; he won't be the cover athlete for my version of Madden 09 roughly ten seconds after I get the shrinkwrap off.

Does this mean we'll have 70 new hours of commentary added to the game from Madden slobbering all over Favre's knob?
