I've been reading this and I would have to say that for me a dominant team in sports gaming would have to be the Oakland Athletics from RBI Baseball on the NES.

Baseball stars (NES) American Dreams. They were sick.

PS and the Lovely Ladies. All girls team. They were very good.

Let us not forget Auburn with Bo Jackson in Bill Walsh College Football on the Genesis. The dude alone was unstoppable. You could also change where players played in that game and the true cheesers would make him the Kick and punt returner. Talk about outlawed.
