it will be in stores on the 3rd(Tuesday). The game is street dated. Stores will have the game, most likely, the Friday before release(2/27) and will hold until Tuesday morning.

Ok, now I have seen it all. I had no idea that the players had teeth, gums and a tongue. WOW! I stuck out with Howard and he made this grin, so I look at it close up and there it was! WOW. Talk about detail, it looked so real. The expressions are amazing. And my gosh Legend is HARD!!!!

If I watch a movie that's DD & I set my PS3 to Bitstream the movie plays in DD
This has been an issue with the PS3 since day 1, the only way you'll get the PS3 to (officially) output DD 5.1 for a game is to go to the audio settings and uncheck everything except for Dolby Digital 5.1, this is only an issue with PS3 games but not DVD's or BR's

But you should know that PCM 5.1 or 7.1 is pretty much the same thing as DD 5.1 so you're not missing anything

Re: MLB 09 The Show Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

My first time playing mlb the show on ps3. The demo seems really good and I'm looking forward to the finished product.

Couple things I did notice though. There is a collision detection issue. Runner from 3rd was coming down to score on a weak grounder to first, I threw to home with plenty of time to spare so I just ran up the line with my catcher to make the tag and I went right through him. It did record the out so its not a big deal.
Another thing I noticed and its probably cuz I'm new to ps3, is that getting hits is hard. I left it on veteran difficulty and put my timing slider all the way to the right, my contact slider one click to the right and the CPU pitch accuracy one click to the left, and I still find it a bit hard to get some hits. CPU seems to be racking up the hits in only a 4 inning game.
I'm looking forward to seeing the complete game so I can see some packed stadiums and more atmosphere. Overall, I can tell it will be a fun game.

Actually, it is the exact same thing. LPCM (Linear Pulse Channel Modulation) is simply an audio codec where all channels are linearly output at the same time. DD and DTS are compressed audio formats where the compressed signal is transmitted and the receiver then has to decode it. With LPCM, the PS3 has done all of the decoding and the signal is fed through the receiver to all of your speakers. You are losing nothing. Unless your audio receiver has some magical decoder that can decode the signal better than your PS3 (and with your Onkyo that's not true as I have a 606 and there is no difference between what the PS3 can do and the Onkyo), you lose NOTHING by outputting in LPCM. The only thing you don't get is the magical light on the front of your receiver stating "Dolby Digital".

Now there are some games where there is a distincly different Dolby Digital track. In Rockband, there is an option that forces a Dolby Digital signal out of the PS3. Mine is setup for LPCM, but when I check off the Dolby Digital box on the options menu, the reciever states "DD" on the front and not multichannel PCM. This is a case where the game has distinctly different soundtracks for DD and regular. So in this case there is a difference. Not because of the audio format, but because of the source material. In The Show, the source material is exactly the same so it doesn't matter one iota.
