Hey guys, those of you worried about Pro-Tak happeneing every play I think this blog is a reassurance. Clinton Portis was taken down by one man tackles and they all looked appropriate. Similarly, when he was hit in the backfield by a d-lineman, he went backwards. It was no Pro-Tak like in the willie parker video. It just looked really good. I AM SOO EXCITED ABOUT THIS GAME. But i'll be more excited if there were back plates and flak jackets. I mean cmon just take them from NCAA.

I saw poor collision detection in the videos. Not again.

Good blog. Does this mean the stretch play has been fixed too? Will the OL really move aggressively to the play side and actually block someone this time?

Will the new running animations and technology help the run game so that the LBs make more tackles and the CBs aren't nearly as important in stopping the run?

Secondly, if you have never used DLine stunts during a game, and don't understand how they can be used to control the run by closing gaps, then you really don't have a let to stand on from an argument standpoint. The fact that you didn't even know they existed implies you are arguing blindly.

Thirdly, next time I suggest reading the whole thread before replying. Someone else already pointed out that Madden actually does have DLine controls, however they are at the line of scrimmage (something no one had pointed out to date) and not at the play call screen like in APF2K8. I thanked them for it and said I needed to go back and try them out. LBRulzes then pointed out that even though they are there, they don't work properly.

Hope that's not too weak for you.
yeah Val madden has D-Line controls at the line of scrimmage but the problem is that u dont have the time to call D-Line stunts and call other defensive adjustments. i wish they would copy the 2k style defensive playbook but thats not gone happen

so i think madden should have plays with different gap assignments. for example we pick 4-3 over, then pick cover 2, then the next screen will have D-Line assignments

This was brought up way before Madden 09 wass even released that tiered play calling would not be in Madden 10 because it is apparently a huge project. They would have to scrap every single one of their defensive plays and all the logic behind it. Here is hoping for it to happen eventually, though.

I dont understand what happened to double team blocking. This vid is supposedly from Madden 08. This does happen alot in the NFL, especially when defenses are in 3-4s or only rush 3 down lineman.
