Re: Ravens (CPU) vs. Titans (Ian) full gameplay in HD

This game looks fake, like a cartoon.

In my honest opinion you need to get rid of the entire running animation system, it just does not look realistic.
Players cut on a dime, slide their feet, swing their arms to wide, etc. etc.... I have no idea in the world how anyone can like the way these players move it looks horrible.

Like how can you look at this game and say it looks realistic? Madden has had 4 years on next gen & this is still what they bring to the table?

Ian Cummings you want a better realistic football, spend the WHOLE year working on animations for Madden 11. Sure you have great presentation & everything else but once the players start moving on the field it looks unrealistic.

Have you ever played Nba 2k9? For the most part it looks like a real Basketball game, 2k sports to me has always had some of the best animations. It's a true shame that their is only one football game out rite now every year.
I'm a die hard football fan & I must say this game just does not look real.....

I pray the Ea license gets destroyed so more Pro football games can be made!

Is it me, or do some of the players' running animations look better than others ? Chris Johnson looks like he is jogging, it looks horrible to me; Mouton's running animation on the other hand to me, was fine.

Am I imagining things or is anyone else seeing this ?

Random things...

It seems the Ravens coach was shown quite a bit more than Titans coach. He was also pumping up his team and the other didn't.

I wish there were more replays of some close plays. Like the pass to Gage that was almost intercepted. That would be cool to have a cutscene replay.

At 6:16 of the first vid the Titans Oline are bunched up blocking. Looks bad.

If it's cold why is everyone in short sleeves? Refs, players, coaches...shouldn't some be bundled up?

Game looks good though. Huge strides in one year. Keep it up.

The results of my little test are rather interesting. First, the overall combined stats for Collins/Flacco:

12-28-4INTs-1TD..called back for holding.

The pass plays: time to release/result

3.0/inc
2.4/int

3.1/Comp...holding penalty
1.4/Screen complete CJ
3.3/Inc

2.8/Comp Heap
2.9/Inc.

2.4/Inc.
1.8/Screen complete CJ

3.2/Int. (Harper)
2.7/Inc.

3.0/Int. (Reed)

4.7/Inc.

4.0/Comp Scaife

2.4/inc
1.8/McLain
1.9/Mason
3.3/inc
3.0/Mason
2.9/inc.
2.6/Williams
2.3/Peerman
2.1/Williams
5.1/Inc.
2.6/Inc.
3.5/TD....holding
2.8/inc.
2.0/INT.

This averages out to less than 3 seconds from snap to throw. Additionally, quite a few of the passes were thrown under pressure. The pressure also caused a fair amount of incomplete passes.

I know the blocking and line play does not appear to be perfect, but based on the results it seems that it may be less of a problem that a lot of people think.
Yes but these results are of when the ball is snapped to when the ball is released... many times the ball is released under no pressure and the clock will still stop i assume.

The point is that it seems the QB could have just stayed in the pocket for alot longer than the times indicate.

I realise that often it's only about 3 secs but in game it just feels like so much longer... i don't know why but it does.

Let me just reiterate to you Ian and EA that I love what I have seen. The presentation and cut scenes really add so much and are the biggest thing I wanted this year. Coverage appears to be improved a fair amount, and I love the slower gameplay. C IMO this appears as if its going to compete for my favorite madden of all time. Ian many hear like and noted others are giving some constructive criticism like pass rush etc. However lets not lose the main point over the few clowns in here, this game is overall a strong showing and has me amped for August 14 or earlier

I'm still there. I'd rather help than hurt. I'm not a fanboy of any football game. I'm a fan of football period. Bashing any game doesn't help progress move forward at all.

Ian thanks for the video. Things are really getting better. The presentation, the tackling, the lighting and shadows in the stadium look great.

In all honesty I'm buying the game every year, it's that or talk to the wife another 6 hours a week. Uggh.

I also have faith that Ian and Co. will do their best to put out the most realistic football game they can within the time frame they've been allowed. I'm actually surprised no one has complained about the color of the sky yet!!!!!
There's really no "fine tuning" going to be done to animations 3 weeks before going gold, because they aren't gonna' mo-cap anything at this point, so maybe your "brain power" ain't all you claim it to be.
