Tackling seems extremely spotty and iffy. Many times players seem to not know what they are doing and awkwardly engage the ball carrier while one or perhaps two other players bring him down (many times in a fashion that would make Sir Isaac Newton cringe). True three plus man gangtackling should happen at every available opportunity, and not just canned ones up the middle. Next year tackling physics and player engagement should get a complete overhaul.

Just watched them again....love the mild field degradation!
It's not overdone, for once.

Also, again, the crowd is much more lively and into the game!!! Nice.......

I'm seeing graphic/animation improvements, and a noticeable attention to detail. However, I don't see anything more than what should be expected from a year over year upgrade in the series.

And technically, from a pure x's and o's standpoint, the way computer controlled players are reacting to certain plays, (and the pursuit angles they take), this game still looks far below the bar that 2K set several years ago. Namely the OL/DL interaction, and more specifically the run blocking.

Also, the players still look like they're on ice...

*looks for Electric Football youtube video that has been so aptly compared*

BTW: Ian, you posted the game videos on EAs inside blog. It wasn't like some specially ripped videos for the OS community that you did after hours for us. You making the comment "why do I even bother" seems unjustified. Obviously, you bother, because you're trying to display the improvements of the game (EA inside blog is nothing more than an alternative medium to market the game).

Also, I dont understand why you continue to fish for compliments. It's attention-seeking at its finest, and comes off very unprofessional.

We need the people making this game to put their heart into the way the game plays, not how the community perceives them.

Build advocates with an amazing representation of the NFL...

It seems like you're investing way too much energy in trying to "convince" people about how great and improved the game is -- which is seemingly unfair given our controlled-visibility so far... This tactic is consistent with the reputation EA has earned over the last half decade or so.

I just wanna bring up one more point about the presentation cameras...

I just played a game of Madden 09, and I threw some bad passes on purpose that were almost intercepted, a few were deflected. The camera more often than not, spotlighted the player who made the deflection or dropped the pick. Unless I've just forgotten, so far in Madden 10, I'm not seeing this happen.

I hope they look into that. Those near picks and deflections are a big deal and it's one of the few times a network gets to give a defender his own shot.

I agree. I love the way the cutscenes look and the fact that they have them. Sometimes I do feel they are implemented poorly. It's a bit all over the place, IMO.

I saw a few over and underthrows out of bounds...you didn't?
Ian I love what you guys have done this year. The game has improved leaps & bounds ove last year but you can not use that argument that "Rome wan't build in a day". I would hardly compare 5 years to a day (although I this is your 1st year as lead designer). Just because people are giving constructive criticism about the running animations doesn't mean that the game won't be great. I for one truely appreciate you even putting these vids out & being so open with the games development process because you really don't have to do it. With Madden being the only NFL game out there it will sell no matter what. That said I'm sure you're aware of some of the issues like the signature running animations, collision detection for sideline players (players walking through players) & endzone pylons, progressive lighting, etc.. that need to be addressed. You should be flattered by all the passion we the fans have about the game. If nobody commented on the game then I would be worried lol. Keep up the good work & don't let a few negative post stop you from keeping us informed. With all the millions of $ that we the consumers have made EA, I think we deserve to stay informed.
