Game is going to flop hardcore, just like every other non NFL football game. Even if it was a good game, it would have still flopped. NFL logo is just to powerful.
Keep in mind this guy is a huge 2k football fan. He, like I, is rooting big time for other games to flood the market. Just because we have strong concern doesn't mean we have some "agenda" like the BB crew loves to claim.

Nice seeing you over here at OS, KC! If you get this game on release day, let me know what you think. I actually trust your opinion. I won't be buying it on release day unless I love the demo or something drastic changes. For me, it's less about the camera angles and more about the back foot perfect throws and AI issues. That's the kind of stuff that I just can't handle.

I'm looking forward to the demo, though. At the very least it'll be nice seeing the tackle engine go to work on my HDTV.

I just want to know what about his post makes you think he's getting it on release day?

So brits computer guys can't develop a good video game? I posted before, Ian Cummings is a soccer fan first and I doubt he or Josh Looman ever played organized football. Developers bring in experts for these things.

The throw off the back foot was done with a user controlled player and all ratings maxed out. I've seen Brett Favre do it a thousand tmes in real life, so it's not impossibe for the best in the game to make that throw.

As far as the camera angles and controls. It's new and different, should be a nice change of pace. As you said, if it was good game, but like Madden/2k, it would flop because of no NFL.

Maybe people prejudge cuz its a small video game compay with a small dev team who have never made a sports game. I think that gives people plenty of reasons to question if this game will suck or not.
So you prejudge the game without playing based on it having a small development team? I agree it's a reason to have concerns about the game, but to prejudge and pass on the game at this stage based off that??

Re: Backbreaker Hands-On Preview (Gameinformer)

I really don't think people should be writing the game completely off just based on one preview which is what alot of people seem to be doing in this thread. Don't get me wrong, I am pretty concerned about some of the things that were brought up in the preview, but we still have to remember this is one person's opinion and all the past previews and hands one from other people before this one seemed to be generally positive. We still have no idea if some of the issues mentioned in the preview could be alleviated on a higher difficulty settings either.

Not to mention like I said before in this thread, I flat out disagree that a couple of negatives in the preview were actually negatives at least to me. The running movement being similar to All-Pro 2k8 is a positive to me, the momentum and inability to stop and turn on the dime seemed much more realistic in that game.

And can people just stop with whole "I knew this game was going to suck because these guys aren't American" crap. How are they any less qualified than an American team if that American team never played organized or higher level football before? In both cases their experience with game of football is still just watching it is as fan.

I have never played APF2k8, but i did play ESPN2k5, and thought it was one of the best football games at the time. One thing we do know is the reviewer did list Madden10 as one of his favorite game. Now im not saying we should ignore everything he said because he likes madden, but for me since i am not a huge fan of madden i do not see his personal commentary on the game to be a big factor in how i feel about the game.

Unfortunately 2k5 still IS and likely still WILL BE the best football game around.

Damning with faint praise, I do believe. On the other hand, the NHL series, my favorite current sports series, has a former NHL player as a producer and the face of their dev team. A small enough sample size that it's pretty much meaningless, sure, but all else being equal, I'd feel a lot more confident in a game that is made by people who have a deep understanding of the game, which is a lot easier to get if you've spent thousands of hours watching and playing the sport. If the guys at NM have done this, great, I'm positive that you can watch and play football over there, it's just not as likely.

Football must be the most complicated and intricate thing in the universe.
