Fedor is a beat in this game. I won the Strikeforce title and defended it twice successfully and then I end up facing Fedor. He literally took me out in the first round within 40 seconds, it was embarrassing. He made me submit to an armbar. Any recommendations if I have to face him again since I don't think he will lose the title by the next time I get a title shot. I have built my guy to be a striker and ground n pound.

Best way is to choke him out with a good grappler, his choke defense is not as good as his joint submission defense in the game (think real-life, his only real loss was to triangle choke). If you are a standup fighter, stay out of his range using your jab and low kicks, work his speed down with leg kicks and body kicks, and then work down his stamina and THEN go for a flury of head strikes to TKO him. It's hard but he is beatable, you just can't go in swinging for his head at the start of the fight or he will catch you.

Can you answer a question for me?

When defending a submission, does it look to your submission stats at all? Does it rely solely on what your ground D is?

I figured it looked at your ground D to decide whether to goto the mini game, and once in the mini game I figured it then looked at your submission skills?

Can you clairfy this at all for me? Based on your post it seems I am correct. Makes a huge difference in how I will make my fighters.

Thanks for the tips........I made that mistake trying to go swinging for his head and a few body kicks.

Simon, I'm a bit confused by the bolded above.

In a post about two weeks ago, you said:

Quote:
When defending, your grapple defense stat and stamina determines the size of your sweet spot, when attacking your choke submission skill and stamina determines the size of your sweet spot. The size of that spot makes a HUGE difference in how easy it is to pull out the choke or escape.

So, is submission defense determined solely by the fighter's grapple defense and stamina recovery rating, or do his submission attributes in Choke, Arm, and Leg, play a role?

Great question Moss. I would like to know this insight into the rating system also Simon

Gonna tinker with random matches but I think I need a higher level since I'm Strikeforce champion and retaining it easily with subs (all wins are by sub lol)
Pretty much the same with my guy. Undefeated at 15-0 with all by submission, 14 in the first round. The fights have gotten tougher and my most recent one was against someone who could actually hold their own on the ground and it took me to the 2nd round to sub him.

My guy's chin is awful though. If I try and stand with anyone, one clean shot will send my guy into a rocked state. Its happened in at least 6 fights.

Exactly! If I try and mash I'll get rocked pretty easily.

I messed around with Overeem against Rogers and was doing ok with strikes but Rogers would win more often than not...I need to work on my stand up game a bit more before jumping levels I think.
