Using your example: You get online and see people have Overeem. You say "how did they get Overeem?" You google it and discover you have to like a FB page to get it. You create a (fake or real) account and you get Overeem. It costs you nothing.

With Gamestop: You get online and see people have Nick Diaz. You say "How did they get Diaz?" You google it and find out only people who purchased the game from Gamestop get the 4 fighters. You either have to spend 60 more bucks to get the game from GS or wait a few months and purchase them as DLC. Either way you are spending money to get the 4 fighters.

Which one is worse?

Regarding your social media beef, your are only participating if you actually participate. Creating a fake FB account with a fake name and no personal information isnt really being "integrated with social media"? Creating a FB account and immediately deleting it isnt participating either.
1) I am already buying the game and will do so where I get the best "preorder bonus". Doesn't matter if it is at Best buy, Gamestop, or walmart. Whoever has the best preorder bonus I will buy it there. Plus I am already buying the game at one of those locations for the same price so if it comes with extra fighters is a bonus.

2) I am not going create a fake account just to get a fighter. That is the point, I am not going to do that every time some games drops some "like" button bonus. It just makes the whole thing even more dumb that they are trying to "promote" the game through the like button. Yet some people will be forced to create fake accounts just to get the fighter, that does zero to promote the product. All it does is put the customer through more hassle to receive a fighter on the roster we should of had already and does nothing to help Yukes promote the game.

3) Last, what is up with this sentence? My issue with you is that you have a problem with the FB thing. Since I am not a advocate of this new social media marketing you have a "issue" with me?? That seems pretty trivial.

What i dont like is the direction gamers are allowing this to go. I dont care how easy it is to like this on fb, we shouldnt be doing it just so they can show advertisers they get this many views now give us more money to stay a sponser. If they said "if we get a million likes then the dlc is free for eveyone" i would be all for something like this. the company makes money and the consumer benefits. right now all we are looking at are games being rushed out the door and times unplayable till a patch yet they offer less and less with the games so they can charge us for dlc.
Its not about liking this on fb... it is about what they are asking us to do at this point. Many view it as no big deal others dont like where the direction is heading.I will say over time, we have seen more than enough examples (first dlc, now "online passses", where to next....). They are looking for more ways to charge us all the time and i dont like that we just do what they ask leading them to start charging for new stuff.
sent this from my phone so please excuse how the post looks.
Exactly! Well said Sb

Basically they are saying to the customer such as myself. "You are forced to click that like button or Hahahahahahahahah Noooooooooo Overeem for Youuuuuuu HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"!

So now I won't receive him

Regarding #3, the sentence was supposed to be "My issue with you ISNT that you have a problem with the FB thing". My mistake. My issue with you is that you are ok with the Preorder and not the FB thing which doesnt make much sense to me on a number of levels.

You didnt answer my question though. Which one is worse? Like you said some people wont know about the Overeem/FB thing. My response is many people wont know about the 4 fighters/Gamestop thing and will buy from BB or Amazon. Same situations but with one it will cost you 60 bucks to fix and the other you just need to press a "like" button.

Ohh ok cool deal

Well to a degree I see what you are saying. But they advertise on the TV preorder bonus all the time. Plus preorder bonuses have been standard for 3 or 4 years now with just about every game release. So it comes with the territory that most look at what bonus you get if you preorder with say gamestop.

Now with that said I will say both are bad, because I feel this mantra is hurting us the customer. For instance a company such as EA with Battlefield 3 will create a game with 13 maps. But it will hold back 4 maps, 10 weapons, and 3 vehicles. So people who got the game say for this xmas have to spend $15 to get these little extras.

I believe the game should ship with all of that for the $60 bucks. If it is created and in the game it SHOULD NOT be locked by some code. Now the problem is people can't not spend, micro-transactions have shown this in MMO titles so companies have picked up on this and have used it to their advantage to earn up to $65, $70, or even $75+ per release by pulling a fast one over people who don't know any better about preorders. They know once some kids mom runs out and buys her son that new MW3 and a month later he is balling his eyes out cause all his school buddies are playing on the new maps and he can't play with them. So then she spends more cash on these "DLC" to make him happy.

So basically I feel all this supposedly "bonus" stuff is a crock oF ****. We all know you don't get anything for free. We are paying for it somewhere so now why am I paying twice for it instead of at point of sale???

I understand it with non-sports games as usually they are doing it with optional things. With sports games though, this would be like withholding the Packers unless you buy a preorder from a store or like them on FB. I would rather them do the FB thing over the exclusive preorder.

This is what worries me the most. It could be the tip of the iceberg.
