But it made sense. People didn't realize that you could hold LT and hit the icon of the receiver, and the vision would automatically pop over to him without you having to move it with the right stick, this made it a lot easier.

And it was much more realistic. Yea, the other player could see where your vision cone was. That was BRILLIANT. In real life, DBs and LBs are constantly reading the QB's eyes and where he is looking. I loved being able to fake out the other user by looking to the right with my cone of vision while actually intending to throw it to the backside post. This simulated looking off the safety as a QB perfectly. You could catch them all out of position trying to follow your cone.

I think the one thing that we will have to accept is that when it comes to animations, these games (Madden/NCAA) are always going to look robotic. And that has to do with the way they started this generation and carrying over the same techniques from last gen with respect to mo cap. It's a slow process of trying to get smoother in the animation department, but it will most likely never get to where it looks seamless. The game just looks robotic. Movement looks telegraphed. That's the way it has been since moving to Xbox360 and PS3 and I don't expect it to get much better. The animations, sliding I just don't think is ever going to get to where you will look at it and say this is beautiful. I think it will always look choreographed because of their animation engine, the emphasis on short branching animations and the way they motion capture. Even going back to the last generation EA never did animations well and they still do not.

Really ready for Tuesday so some detailed questions can be asked and hopefully answered about the info given in the video.

That said, I was very pleased that EVERYTHING they addressed in the clip were things the "hardcore" gamers have been asking for. Not to put anyone on blast because nobody knows for sure how anything will pan out but I honestly don't understand some people's POV.

I constantly read complaints about how EA football games are fundamentally broken and how they need to take the time to repair the code, not just "band aid" it. However, now they claim to be doing that, not just trying to throw a bunch of features and "shortcuts" in the game but actually take the time to address core next-gen issues and people seem to focus on other things.

I don't know how or why EA/Tiburon does things the way they do them but it is what it is and we all know that. So for whatever reason, time and/or other resources do not allow for THIS TEAM at EA/Tiburon to fundamentally address as many core game issues in one cycle as needed. So it seems the choice is to either fundamentally fix a small number of things or "shortcut"/"band aid" more and release shiny distracting features. I am glad they seem to be doing former.

I agree with a lot of the problems people have with EA football games in general like player movement and player interaction but that's not what this video clip was touting to be fix/addressed. I am not advocating for anyone to "wait and see" Tuesday if NCAA 13 has fixed/addressed player movement, player interaction, etc because chances are they haven't. However, it would be more constructive, imo, to have more discussion about what is actually being claimed in the videos and blogs opposed to other things.

It's hard to really see in the video in the OP if what is being claimed really works.

But what is readily apparent is the horrible looking movement. I mean, I would like to talk more about the passing, but its hard to really give comments aside from 'i need to see more' and 'i need to play it' because as of now, its a bunch of hype.

I would have much rather have seen some select passing plays of a CPU vs User. Then I'd be able to comment more on that one aspect. The passing didn't stand out in the OP video, the movements and animation did, imo.

I feel you but we all can agree, the video was not about improved movement, so I just don't understand why anyone would be disappointed about or rant about that, in relation to the video. Of course people can do whatever they want to but is just seems off-topic and non-constructive, imo.

It's like when they release a screen shot about uniforms and people post about everything under the sun except uniforms. lol. I am just saying there is a proper time and place for things, imo.

Eh, decent improvements but hardly a new passing system, I'm kind of losing optimism for the game since the hype train is already blowing things up beyond capacity.

as im trying to understand this correctly, in my minds eye, i see this having a negative effect on any user who actually knows how to read defenses and can pre-snap decipher where the blitz is most likely coming from and get the ball out to the hot wr as quickly as possible.

with the way they have made it much more easier for the user to control a DL as their main defensive guy, i could see getting sacked b4 the icons show up by someone who is proficient usering the DL.

also on crossing routes or any route 4 that matter, sometimes the best window you will get to throw the ball is the first window that pops open. based on the video if you only needed 2yrds to get back to 1st & 10, you could in theory hit the crossing route in the 1st window b4 the mesh takes place. sometimes it is more important to move the chains and live 4 the next play than it is to get the big play or wait for the entire play 2 develope. because depending on if your opponent is excellent at playing defense, you could get sacked b4 the icons pop up or b4 the play fully developes.

while it may sound nice in theory im not 2 interested in whether or not my qbs awr is tied into this or not because quite honestly its all about my awareness 1st and 4most, especially in user vs user games.

i could give more examples but ill stop here because like i said i need more information and i need to see exactly how its going to be implimented.

but just going off the top, its seems very limiting to those of us getting our inner Peyton Manning on.

ps. i also wasnt to thrilled to see the db go what appeared to be brain dead on that long ball and lose all awareness of where he was on the field, but again more info is needed 4 now

I agree that the icons not coming up will be a problem. When you throw a deep ball, especially a corner or fade, most of the time the WR is not looking yet. I'm hoping that you can still throw it to the WR if the icon is faded but unless you put the right touch he won't catch it, something like that. It just doesn't make sense why the QB can't throw it anywhere on the field at anytime. We'll see how it goes on Tuesday.

EDIT: Actually if they do it the way I was talking about it could work. Awareness could play a factor if the QB puts a good ball because it does take skill for the WRs to find the ball in the air sometimes.

Re: NCAA Football 13 Video - No More Psychic DB's, 25 Different Pass Trajectory Zones

The passing game was one of the most requested features that needed to be fixed. I get it. That stuff looks good.

However like many people have said, the DB still looks to be sort of mirroring the WR route. How hard is it to even have the DB put his arm out to the WR? A DB does not cover with his arms down. He doesn't WATCH the WR run his route. Where is the INTERACTION!?

Again, I'm impressed with ball trajectory and even the whole icons not lighting up until the reciever is ready thing. But for EA to really live up to the expectations many of us have set I still need to see; true momentum, penalties, OL/DL play, realistic running animations, etc etc. From what the video has shown it looks like the only gameplay feature they've touched this year is the passing game.
