We are told to wait for the demo, but it's still almost the same... or at least the core complaints are still there... but it's just the demo.

It's time to wait for the retail copy, but and it is very similar to the pre-alpha, but we are told to wait for a patch or two, or three... and next thing we know Madden 11... I mean 12... I mean 13 is about to come out.

Yet, after all of that, even with the minor improvements here and there, it is still the same game in MANY other ways.

I agree with others that the foot planting in Madden 10 is actually better than Madden 12. I still have M10, M11 and M12 and can compare. While M12 is the best Madden on this generation, and may be one of the best Madden's they have put out, it STILL isn't nearly as good as it could or should be.

I am not asking for the impossible. I am not asking for too much. I am asking for things that have already been done, in other football games.

What has REALLY changed in the game play from Madden 09 to Madden 12?

When I think about it, all I can really point to are options like game speed/sliders, how tackling works has changed, and how run blocking works. Also, the visual presentation was improved last year and looks like it has continued to improve this year.

I can't comment on the passing game, but in motion the game still moves like Madden. It is still choppy and robotic with animations and reactions that don't pass the eye test. Heck ,the QB mechanics are still god awful and unrealistic. I'm sure body language still doesn't really matter. I'm sure a defender who is a complete stop in zone, or going one way can change direction and keep up with a receiver who is running an In route over the middle.

Too many people are happy with the "it's just a video game" line and actually DON'T want more authentic game play. There are people who love how casual and arcade-ish Madden is.
This is exactly the post I was going to write. Thanks PG, you saved me the trouble of finding the right words. I'm what you would consider an "old timer". I started playing Madden in 1988, you know, probably around the time most of you were born. There was an incarnation of Madden on the computer before the Genesis version. I've played damn near every football game ever made. I had them all. This Madden LOOKS good, but nothing is REALLY popping out at me. It's the same MO, which is the frustration you are seeing from people in this thread. These improvements, if they work as advertised, are all great. However, basic player movement, warping, leaping, and ridiculous acts that defy every law of physics is what destroys this game. Basic line interaction which is done so perfectly in other older games destroys this game. Nothing tells me the players are actually alive. They are robots. I'm willing to bet that the same issue plaguing all of the other Madden's will be there as well - when the ball is about to leave the QB's hand, all 11 defenders will stop on a dime and begin to move towards the ball. EA sees dollar signs, but they can't see the forest through the trees. The videos they are showing do not look much different than the videos I saw for M11 and M12. It always looks impressive showing the high resolution replays and those finer details, but when you are actually playing the game, it doesn't look like that. No one has ever questioned how Madden looks. It looks AMAZING - the art team has done a tremendous job. It's when you start actually playing it where it all goes awry. As of right now, I'm passing on this game. People can label me what they want, but I'm not 12 so I don't subscribe to that ridiculous "*****" terminology. I'm a realist. I have no angst towards EA, I could care less about the company. I care about the football. The challenge system, penalties, player movement and cutting without momentum, warping/teleporting, terrible OL/DL interaction, no real pocket, etc. etc. are all still going to be left on the table and I'll be told to wait until "next year". Tiburon has their work cut out for them to keep their classic customer base. Maybe they don't care too, since younger kids today will be buying this game and think it's amazing. They can play as their favorite team and score 50 points on the Ravens defense. It will be exciting to watch catches in triple coverage, Patrick Willis cover Calvin Johnson step for step and have Adrian Peterson plow through an entire defense 4 times a game while zig zagging through defenders on his way to the end zone.

Oh well, there's always next gen.

My issue is the OL vs DL.
The DT's focus seems to be wrestling with the OL in front of them.

With the dropback steps for the QB, you would think they would at least add some backward steps to the OL to simulate them being driven back into the QB.

The DE's are still getting stonewalled at the POA.
The OT's still glide on a Pre-determined/canned arc for blocking the DE's to form this NICE Pocket.
G/C's still standing around when not engaged in an animation.

What's up with the OL/DL play?
Where's the love for this area of the game?

OL/DL play looks watered down to showcase the new passing injections to me.

I guess it is intentional (to match all of the other animations) but the Brees, Smith, and Dalton throwing animations looked weird.

It is really cool that they have models of Sims and Nantz.

Now we have Nantz talking about HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE lol . Seriously, i hope there is more variety in the commentary, still not convinced yet.

You need glasses if you think this game looks like a different company made it.

Understand that game trailers are like movie trailers, the previews always look good.

There's no fight for the ball, it's just what animation triggers first. My only real concern.

QFT, its just predetermined canned animations depending on where the ball is located, the defender nor receiver have any idea where the ball is at, they just hope it lands in their hand. This type of thing goes on in every aspect of the game infortunatly.
