Re: NCAA Football 13 Demo Is Out, Post Your Impressions Here

I honestly don't get some of you guys, but whatever.

To me, the new passing and coverage mechanics open up so much more strategy. It's actually possible to read coverages now and throw the ball where it needs to go with proper timing.

Perfect example, Using Bama against LSU, I called comebacks with the TE dragging from right to left (to the short side of the field). I can immediately diagnose from the alignment and the instant backpedal that the db is in cover 3, and my receiver drives upfield to set up the comeback. I'm waiting for his icon to light up to show that he's ready for me to throw, and I feel the rumble in the controller signalling that there's some pass rush nearby. I look at the pocket, step to the right to avoid the DE coming from my blind side, and look back up to the WR to see that he's ready for a pass. Fire. Completion. First down. Had I not diagnosed cover 3 right away, or had the DB had the psychic ability to close out on my comeback, that's an easy pick for him in any of the prior games.

The mechanics actually make sense together now.

Next year they obviously need to clean up the movement and add the infinity engine (and there's no excuse why it's not in this year), but this demo is the most fun I've had with NCAA in years. Time will tell if that's the case on higher difficulties, but this is very good.

The oline is still confused on who to block especially on a CB blitz. The dline and linebackers still don't read keys. Wrs don't block. DTs are too fast and DEs are useless.

Hopefully next year they will completely revamp the OLine/Dline Interaction.

Passing seems a bit too easy, but that could be due to difficulty settings.

The run defense AI is 100% psychic. Absolutely no hesitation at running at the ball carrier and the option is damn near impossible to run properly. I simply cannot imagine how this will play on a higher difficulty.

The only decent part of Heisman mode I am liking is the interviews. The game looks absolutely horrible when you play as only the QB. Also the view seems to far in without a pivot option.

I liked 06 Heisman way better....

You could still control the whole team but when the game was over it was still all about your created guy with the dorm room stuff.

Sure you can pretty much already do just that by making a recruit in dynasty but it does not have the same feeling as 06. But idk I'm biased to that game I spent so many hours on it back in the day lol

Another moth to EA's flame I see. Once you learn to understand EA's marketing terms such as "overhauled, revolutionized, or groundbreaking" as their typical pregame launch fodder, you'll be much wiser and will perhaps save some money here and there.

I definitely enjoyed the demo overall. I appreciate how much there is to do in the demo. 6 teams to play as and RG3 on any of them is fine by me.

I think the changes they made in gameplay are perfect. New drop backs, new trajectories and catches and no more super linebackers are all huge additions.

I like the bottom line and in game updates. Rece Davis does sound a bit dull but it adds a lot to the feeling that this is realistic.

The crowds are also much improved. The fact that the crowd reacts mid-play is great!

For me, the demo makes me feel like the developers are striving to make NCAA 13 more like real college football and I'm ok with that.
