Re: Some MLB 2K13 Features Revealed, First Screenshot Included

2K baseball does have this great fun factor. I think part of it is you have a lot of control over everything that happens. I enjoyed it quite a bit in 2K10 and 11 but the lack of polish and bugs soured me on the games after awhile.

My biggest pet peeve with 2K11 was the incredibly rigid and unrealistic hitting system IMO. All the outside pitches had to be hit to the opposite field which killed the game for me. Too many opp-bombs. Some guys like Bautista and most medium power hitters pull the vast majority of HRs. You see the opposite in this game pretty much and I couldn't deal with it anymore. I don't know how 2K12 was but if its anything close to what it was in 2k11 I will pass. If its improved significantly I will consider this game.

I have found this true of almost every baseball game I have ever played. I have always had a much easier time taking a pitch which is away and driving it than I have turning on that inside fastball.

This would seem to be correct at least for the most part. Not very many players can pull an outside pitch with any power. I've pulled many outside pitches in 2k but they are generally weak grounders to SS.

I think part of the problem in today's baseball games is you can't move your guy in the box. Granted, most hitters don't move much but Magglio used to shift around. Modern players wear elbow guards so they can cheat towards the plate to get great plate coverage on outside pitches. Chin music helps a little but the armour protects a lot of players. These types of pitcher-batter strategies can't really be handled by a timing only hitting system. I prefer timing only but that extra layer of strategy that could be added if you could choose to cheat inside or not isn't there.

Heck, Bautista lives right off the inside line on the batter's box waiting to turn on everything.

How I long for the day when the triggers or bumper buttons allowed you to move your player while in the batter's box

EDIT: To clarify, i was just voicing my concerns with the quality of the game for the past 2 years. But in my honest opinion, I think (just my 2 cents) that 2K should've just given up on the game and focused solely on NBA 2K, where they have absolutely set the limit on QUALITY games. It's like where a kid excels at one sport but doesnt cut it at another, same reasoning for 2K. They dont have it for baseball, but are hands down the best for basketball.
Awesome. Thanks for coming to the 2K boards to talk about how awesome The Show is and how trash 2K is.

Rude, I know that's how it was in 2K11, but it was fixed in 2K12.
I routinely pull outside pitches down the line and have hit HR's off of them too.

I will need a personal invite along with chips to witness this myself.

I bet a million bucks this has the exact same glitches as 2K12. And I bet another million that they aren't addressed via patch. I'm not interested in playing with generic looking players just because a team has a certain number of players on the DL.
