Playing the cubs in wrigley. Could barely see the ball coming out of the sunlight into the shade. The lighting was crazy realistic and everything looks really sharp.
That was always one of my pet peeves. I am an American League guy but playing head to head vs my buddy we like to play in the original stadiums.

Playing at Wrigley in 2k12 was impossible during certain innings. Great to hear that the lighting was fixed.

Is this a fair assessment or am I seeing things? I've tried to compare 2k12 to this game endlessly and I don't know if I'm seeing things or not.

The commentary is updated. The rosters are updated. There are some small touches underneath the hood. The ball seems to bounce more. Fielders are tuned differently. The ball comes off the bat differently. Color and contrast has b een adjusted ever so slightly and the game is slightly sharper. Faces have been touched up ever so slightly. It's difficult to see but it's there. There are other minor touches as well. certain stadiums, players have been touched up ever so slightly as well as certain features, camera angles etc..

2k basically had 3 months and what we see is about a quarter development of what we usually see.

It's 2k12.25

Is anyone else seeing what I am? These changes are so minor it's hard to see to the naked eye. But I think I'm seeing it.

It could be a carbon copy of 2k12 but I don't know. EVerything seems to be ever so slightly better. the physics graphics etc. It's so slight it's ridiculous though but does make a difference.

I agree with that. Minus some graphical defiencies in areas it's as good as anything else as far as what's going on on the field. it is a very good game that could be great.

OF angles are just terrible in this game... I've seen THREE inside the park HR's because of the terrible angle and THEN the diving they do. I don't even know if speeding them up much will make a difference. This game might be going back to GameStop... I just don't know.

I don't see that, although the camera does seem weird at times on my approach. Sometimes the ball is moving so fast you don't really have a beat on it, so getting the angle just isn't going to happen. When the ball is hit hard and the small yellow circle immediately shows up, I play behind it. If I go after it it will get by me and allow extra bases.

Re: Operation Sports MLB 2K13 Community Impressions Thread

My overall impressions of the game are a little better than I had anticipated, but not by much. Comparing 2k13 to last year's title (and the years before), there seems to be better detail for the fans in the stands, refurbished player mechanics (especially in the outfield), a few new fielding animations, and some new commentary.

Initially, I felt 2k12 all over again, and in some ways it felt a little less valuable considering they removed the online league mode. However, after putting a few more solid hours into the game, the actual gameplay and mechanics seem to be improved. The pitching is great as always, but there was glitches for fielding. I have only experienced the outfield lag glitch once (it happened to my online opponent, not me) where a ball was hit to the warning tracks, the LF was tracking down the ball and could have easily made a running catch, but the lag glitch made the LF miss the ball entirely and landed within inches of his face thus bouncing into the stands for a ground-rule double. I have experienced other fielding errors, like balls thrown to the wrong base when I actually threw it to my intended target, but this was probably due to my usage of extended thumbsticks. Other than these issues, the game has been released with the smallest amount of glitches in the series.

The refurbished graphics in the stands is a nice touch-up, but nothing that is noticable unless you have been a fan of the franchise for a while. The commentary is spot-on as usual, and the added commentary for new big-name players like Trout and Harper is welcoming.

Considering that Take Two didn't anticipate making another baseball game but did, anyways, under extremely short notice, it actually is a decent game. The lack of innovative features is understandable because of the time contraints (although it still should be a necessity because of today's market and competition), but it is inexcusable to remove the online league mode, which has been a staple of the franchise for the last few years. If the online league mode were never added to the franchise, I would rate this as a 7/10. However, considering the league mode was removed, I feel it should deserve a lesser rating, although a 6 or 6.5/10 feels too harsh. Call me picky, but I give the game a 6.8 or 6.9/10.

I skipped out on 2k12 so I gotta say, I'm fairly decently impressed. True, I wasn't expecting the Mass Effect 2 of sports games, but it can hold it's own.

Only issues I really have are the INJURIES. It's out of control, I had to end up turning it off, simming ST and after every singly game I had a new injury to manage. And then the AI swings at any first pitch that's within reach. I ended up knocking down the contact (from the default pro setting) and pulling up the power to compensate.
