lol, thanks for correcting me if that is the wrong terminology, I got it from Kolbe's OS avatar message "G4 Madden CD", which I thought meant "generation 4 Madden Creative Director".

I think the impact of the rule is being vastly overstated here, Splff. You can still lower your head and truck -- you just can't "gore" through an opponent with the very top (crown) of the head which I'm certain was never in Madden to begin with.

The only impact I could possibly see in Madden in regard to this rule is possibly tweaking the truck animation a smidge so that it's even more apparent that the player isn't leading w/ the crown. Other than that, much to do about nothing.

Simple solution, don't allow illegal trucks. All trucks attempts should be legal via animation, trying to balance this out is just going to mess other things up.

And most of the things they are changing are not in Madden in the first place, so what are they talking about, they must think we are stupid, get the old penalties right first.

LoL okey. Now only holding gets called. So nothing would really change. Only that we have a few more penalty sliders that wont work.
But you never know ofcourse. Gonne have to see when 25 drops if ea made some improvements i. The penalty department

Re: Madden NFL 25 Developers Are Working On Implementing New NFL Rules

I guess I am in the minority because I can imagine a realistic risk/reward benefit for the new offensive spearing rule in Madden. Like Spliff mentioned, it could be a risk/reward type of thing added for ill advised truck sticking and hopefully on the flip side, for hit sticking too. I forget what year, maybe M12 but they added the thing where if the User attempted a hit stick tackle too early they would whiff and stumble. So I can imagine this penalty acting as a similar deterrent to abusing the hit stick and truck stick in the open field.

There would likely be a slider for it anyway so those who love WWE/NFL Blitz style collisions can still have them but I for one like the idea of encouraging more diverse and fundamentally sound User control strategy through the penalty system. I have been saying for years there should be far more holding penalties for Users ad libbing in the backfield on applicable plays. In the real NFL, if a blocker is expecting the ball carrier or QB to do something within the play design but they instead do something completely outside of that, it can easily result in what would have been a good block, being a hold. This needs to be used to encourage play design discipline when applicable so Users aren't turning every run play into an outside sweep or pass into a QB bootleg.

Why does Madden always add layers to the house without stabilizing it's foundation? How many times have they said that to us, "we need to rip out the old broken code and do it again...blah blah"

What's going to trigger this, truck sticking? Ugh.

Lmao 100% agree
