What?

A scorer in the NBA has a much better chance of either scoring at the rim or drawing a foul rather than knocking down an open 3.

TBH I hate how the cpu plays in each video, it's either the CPU drives to the hoop or take 3s, there's no pull-up mid-range game at all. This leads to an unrealistic amount of PIP and/or 3pt attempts. Also way too many impossible passes into the paint.

It has been like this for years...

looks like the "suction catches" in the paint are still a problem. at the 4:25 mark. Jason Smith (the white big man) is cutting to the hoop and the paint is open...the ball handler passes to him, but the catch animation suctions Smith way over to the side and causes him to do this leaping two handed catch. it looked like the pass could've been made cleanly to him under the hoop for an easy layup.

this was a huge problem in 2k13 and killed a lot of inside opportunities. the interior passing/catching seems to still be suctioning the receiver away from the hoop rather than getting them the ball near the hoop.

Have you watched a basketball game from the past 5 years? Like it or not, that's exactly what happens in the NBA each and every night.

And I hate the "unrealistic PIP" argument, because in the real NBA, PIP are balanced by fouls, which 2K still hasn't managed to pull off. No fouls = inflated PIP. Deal with it.

This year, the D is visibly more aware of what's going on on the perimeter and the CPU AI help D would meet the ball handler at the FT line or the edge of the paint which should improve the drive and kick game considerably.

Here are a few examples.

:15 - Thompson and Bynum meet the ball handler at the corner of the line which influenced him to pass to the open man on the wing.

1:11 - Look at the lane Irving has to make the pass!

2:09 - The D triple teams the ball handler but the kick out pass is made too late.

3:40 - Anderson sees Irving blow by his man on the pseudo-break and meets him at the FT line.
I'm glad someone noticed this.

The Pelicans were absolutely prioritizing paint defense. They've helped quickly after the first wide open P&R play. Leaving others open, I was wondering if the computer was playing "computer defense".

Yup, exactly right. The NBA is a 3 point, layup, dunk, PIP dominated league. Midrange specialists are becoming a thing of the past.

GOOD JOB 2K!!!!!!
The "Oohh" after the Holiday spin move on Jack was pretty appropriate. And I'm glad it sounded different from Wall's move, which was more of a creshendo as he found an open lane-- because flashy moves should elicit more "punch" in the oohs and ahhs, while moves that may develop into a play should cause gasps and a buildup of anticipation.

There should also be anticipation reactions for nice passes to open guys in the paint.

What would really nail crowd reactions home is if baskets made after such anticipation reactions caused the crowd to erupt more explosively, and missed baskets or turnovers caused a dissappointed "aww". The same should happen for fast breaks.

Big late game shots in a close game should cause the home crowd to fall silent in anticipation and erupt much more explosively than normal if made. They should also erupt explosively for end of quarter 3's made.

NBA teams still do set up and take plenty of open mid-range shots however. We should be seeing at least some of that.
