Re: NBA 2K14: Next-Gen Hands-On Impressions

Since classic teams are confirmed I know it's not possible to have head scans for them but I'm curious how 2k's modelers will make the classic players look more realistic minus the head scans.

Seeing the myplayer realistic faces got me excited since we can now add missing legends with realistic results. I still remain a bit skeptical and cautious since the CAP system might end up nothing more than pre-made heads and just add a beard or hair....much like Choops did back in the day....

If it does have deeper CAP system maan I'm excited to see what the talented CAP makers here on OS can do.

A key difference is the timing, like I mentioned before, NBA2k is adding a new but limited mode with the launch of a completely rebuilt version of NBA2k for new consoles, whereas Madden introduced their mode right when most Franchise gamers where hoping that mode was hitting its' stride. To put it another way, imagine NBA2k adding MyGM and removing Association from current gen NBA2k14, now that would be tragic and an apt comparison to what happened with CCM in Madden 13.

Another difference, in my bias opinion, is that given 2k's gaming quality and the fact that its' completely an offline mode, I expect MyGM to be a far better foundation than I found CCM to be in M13. I think taking a mode like MyGM and initially making it offline solo player, to work all the kinks out, then adding multi player, along with online capabilities later, is a better design choice than how CCM was implemented.

I think once next-gen NBA2k14 is released and all the broadcasting for various MyGM modes are shared using the capabilities of the new consoles, we will be giddy with anticipation for a multi player MyGM mode with online capability, in NBA2k15 or 16. I keep picturing weekly SportsCenter from NFL2k5 on steriods, whenever a read about the video highlights in MyGM, coupled with the broadcast capabilities of the new consoles, can't wait.

Not sure what anyone's issue with the "RPG" elements are. I've seen enough stale, spreadsheet PS2 era franchise modes where everything is text screens, and number coloumn, sort by most/least stuff. Gets boring fast. I like a more immersing, personal touch.

I won't play anything but MyCareer like always, but all the same.

I do hope there's at least some sort of nod to how young your avatar will look in the commentary.

Haven't heard much about presentation aside from lighting, which makes a huge difference mind you, but not much on audio. Dev diaries forthcoming?

I'm not sure what mode you play on but if they removed it or changed it in a big way you'd be pissed too. We are all stoked on the graphics (stated earlier in the thread) and the presentation looks really good too (stated earlier) now we've moved on to the modes in the game.

Can't believe I got sucked in by a f*&cking troll.
First of all I'm not a troll asswipe, and I also didn't say people we're trying to screw over 2k...has education reached the woods you live in Mr. Incest???...doubtful and sad...anyway, have you even went through all these posts on your computer or do you have to drive into town to use the internet???...there has been so many downing the graphics, gameplay, features, lack of game modes as we'll... The lack of game modes is the ONLY real argument.. My point was why come into a forum where people are excited about a launch and talk about the disappointments in the game man???...no one wants the negativity dude...so you're the troll or whatever trailer park internet language you used

Yep!.. Haven't been answered yet and a lot of the guys that are hardcore roster makers love the fact that we can edit the players. Especially accessories and things of that nature as the real season goes on.

I bet that this MyGM has the same functionality as MyPlayer in where you cannot control (roster editing) what goes on with the other teams. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but with myplayer (CG), you could not edit other team's rosters. Heck, I don't even think you can edit your own team. I've never played a whole season of myplayer but I assume that the draft classes for each year were already predetermined.

ill be sticking with cg on pc this year for association.

im surprised at some responses from non association guys- never a good thing to remove features.
Its just the same as how everyone yelled at the Crew people for it being their only thing and talking about it in every thread. Even if it a real gripe, it still gets tiring to hear about.
