Looks like they were going for this look. Actual implementation looks a bit like 80's feathered hair, but way better than before.

Remember player's faces are really animated in this game so maybe they just caught him at the wrong time. It looks good to me though.

Cap looks better, but I don't understand the general fuss over his previous caps on here. Um, he's not a good looking guy (not traditionally anyway). Was a great player. Model? Negative. 2K can only do so much with the raw material. :-/
