You would be surprised how many options no one ever touches having options just to have options we have discovered is a waste of resources. There will be options where it makes sense to have options.

Can you explain this? How is it intended to work?

If a 3-2 count produces 5 pitches and the 6th is put into play, then shouldnt the following 2-1 count make the pitch count 9?

It's simple to keep the counts near realistic values we subtract 1 pitch per batter and two pitches on 3-2 counts. Otherwise your looking at SP hitting 130 in the 6th inning.

The issue at hand is the pitch count of QC. Thats something we can solve now.
3-2 Count on Holliday should be at 17 pitches and only counting as 15??? Balls hit into the play of field are not being counted?

Wait, really? That is really surprising to hear.

Edit: I just realized that I guess it may be the easiest way to handle it since there are no early counts. Every QC adds a lot of pitches, no chance to get a 1-pitch out.

I'm guessing this is because quick counts don't generate 0-0 counts so that's where the inflation comes frome. In real life, players do make first pitch outs.
