I guess the updates also reward people who can actively "bash" those who don't refresh their card's energy. For example, I know that my next match is against someone who is 2-7 (I'm 7-2 atm). I can risk resting one or two of my tired cards. Same would apply to someone who would run into my deck at about 5-9am.

That or your deck could just contain 5-6 top tier cards, 1 decent Diva and then 2 fillers and a Diva filler. You can then just rotate cards easily, using energy on the Diva and easily fight below the tier you could be in because you have 30% of your deck as commons.
