This is the key issue and what it all boils down to.

Personally id like to see it improve and be the good game it should have already been. Im just not sure the big wigs at the top will allow it. While this is only a tiny bit of info , when first thing they toss out to be new , isnt new at all and was a feature 3 years ago.... it dont give you a good feeling of this is really improving alot, thats a natural reaction to what we have become accustomed to by EA. If that perception needs to change, its up to EA to change it thru their overall works.

I'm going to assume no. Here is my theory:

The Madden team doesnt like penalties. Clint said as much last year on Twitter. Thats why the game is pretty much devoid of them with the exception of offsides/false start even with the sliders maxed out.

The problem is they have this new WR/DB dynamic and the DB's have a choice now to go for play ball or hit receiver coverage. Now we all know that if PI stayed the same as last year, people will cheese the hell out of hit receiver and the game would pretty much become NFL Blitz. So they need PI penalties to combat the cheese.

If the Madden team wanted realistic penalties, we wouldve seen new holding and clipping animations last year when the focus was on OL/DL line play. Its a shame that the penalty that occurs the most in real football (holding) rarely appears in Madden 15.

It will be interesting to see if a "grab" button is included on defense which risked drawing a defensive holding flag if he abused it too much with one player (perhaps dependent on AWR / MCV / ZCV ratings as well)

Adding a gameplay mechanic around it which users may interact with is about the only way I see any new / currently-infrequently-called penalties getting in right now.

I understand that things are introduced.. but they are never built on. Like for instance the QB intros.... they are literally the same thing every time. Either talking to the coach or kneeling down on their knees. They run out awkwardly.. and do that weird clap as they address the huddle.

Improved replays I think is a big time myth. There is nothing in maddens replay system that replicates what we see on tv. We are never shown a play replayed in a broadcast or all 22 type camera to see the play develop. Once a game I will have a close up replay where it is literally the orange of the line of scrimmage marker because a camera was placed poorly by the development team.

Commercial breaks with 2 helmets placed randomly on the field.
Halftime show with ridiculously clumsy commentary and unrealistic replays..

If you can't feel the immense difference in gameplay and presentation experience with nba 2k (and mlb the show) vs how madden feels... then I guess we just have a completely different understanding and perspective on sports video games. (and if so that is fine.. i am just stating my opinion.)

I do like that they added the video during the QB intros, but it's the same old man run out from Madden 12. It's time to add some variety. That's why Madden gets stale for me faster than the other sports games, there's no true variety. When you see something once, it's the same thing repeatedly.

Also in real life they focus on the QB walk out for more than just the first drive, I'd like to see that added as well. Not to mention the glitch where if you throw a pic or turn the ball over on the opening drive it just goes straight to the opposing QB's run out. No talk of the turnover or anything. Or sometimes they don't show the run out until the second drive.

They're improving but even on their improvements it just comes off half done.

agree completely. variety is null and void. Not to mention they have really failed to enhance any real time presentation type of experience.

I sent an email to clint a few weeks ago.. basically just rattling off countless ideas ive had for presentation for years.
I just think they don't think of little things that could truly enhance the experience.

take this for example.

you call a timeout while on offense.
Instead of just cutting to a cut scene... It cuts to a broadcast angle and shows the qb burning the TO in real time as he walks over to the sideline disgruntled.. unbuckling his helmet.

small little thing but its things like this that would build on the presentation.
NHL 15 did this well with utilizing the broadcast camera... before faceoffs and during breaks in play.. they would cut to the broadcast angle. With their nbc integration.. it literally looked like it was on tv

I agree. I just asked the question for ****s and giggles. I knew the answer already, lol.

That's where the problem with this dev team comes in for me. Just keep it a buck. We know you're not going all out trying to make a "sim"(another word which I think should have a ban on OS, lol) football game. Anybody who has been paying attention knows this. Just stop preaching it. You won't give people the ammo to say "They lied" or "They're liars". I would respect them more if they just said "Hey we're continuing to make the game that Madden has been and will always be." The game we end up playing is a clear contradiction of this "sim" message.

Grabbing/PI should really be factored into their Awareness/Coverage ratings. I mean, there are tangible stats out there where they can grab what DBs have the highest % of PI, etc...

The "grab" button would be good. FIFA has had it for the last 2 years and it works as intended, although fouls aren't called as much as they should (it's almost an automatic yellow card if you grab anyone while they are running in front of you).
