I've been playing the demo a lot and every game is different. This is just a great experience and no it's not perfect but it's still very good.

For those possibly wanting to make a possible difference ... I decided to seek out an official (maybe official) PES forum so that I could voice my concern about the goalies and especially lack of fouls. I even made note of some gamers complaining about accurate passes. I signed up yesterday and made one post. Others have also notice and hopefully it'll actually change the final product.

I'll have to make time to watch your archived videos. It does look good. It reminds me more of an MLS game.

However, I still see "accurate passes" if you will. The animation gives the illusion that the passes aren't thoroughly accurate, but it seem as though those quick low passes to your teammates are still fairly "accurate," and if I wanted to "ping-pong" pass, it's still possible in FIFA14. Maybe you can further elaborate on the "accuracy" thing.

You seem to know your soccer. I'm an amateur when it comes to soccer. I seldom watch soccer but when I do, animation wise, and graphically, player movement and model wise, pace of play, the slower pace, PES 2016 simply reminds me of what I see on live TV. PES2014 was actually my first ever soccer game purchase. I had to compare the PES2014 and FIFA14 demo for about 1 week. PES2014 got me hooked because it simply looked much more authentic.

But what are your thoughts on both games goalies? Apparently both PES and FIFA (from what I've read around the web) have their share of "dumb goalies."

My only issue now is selecting a team that I can actually root for. Too many soccer leagues, too many teams. Wish all soccer teams could "compete" against one another during the regular season. Wish I could simply choose an "American" team to compete in the leagues, but it doesn't work that way.

I've been using AS Roma a lot because their stat/ratings seems to be in the middle of the pack. Have no clue who AS Roma are.

I've been to PESfan off and on. It's a good site, but I much prefer Evo-Web:

http://www.evo-web.co.uk/forums/

It's the home of all the modders and gameplay enthusiast.

In that match I finished at 61% passing I believe, and the CPU was still at 81%. The emphasis on accurate passing for PES 16 is build all through the attack in the defensive third and the crispness of the passes and the control of the players receiving the passes. If you see my archived, multiple time the CPU tried to exploit my high line and also made errors in their passing. The key is that I can best describe is that PES 16 lacks the CPU to pass on the ground into space, identifying a loose ball if you will. This was something that PES has always struggled with and something FIFA started to do correctly in FIFA 11. That's not simply saying one is better than the other, but merely for the fact of the ball being a separate entity - the tip goes to FIFA due to the ability to modify the game with sliders.

PES 14 was a struggle for me. First inclusion of the fox engine, and it was a headache. If anyone really wants to gauge on how bad a game was, just go to evo-web and see how little editing activity and discussion (positive) there was about it. PES 15 grew a bit more, but still had its issues.

Here is one of my notable videos on PES 14. It was early in the morning and in testing, and I felt great about the initial parts of PES14 - but eventually it just dwindled away. I didn't do anything on PES 15 as it was one of the worst PES I had ever played since 2008. PES 14 was not far off, but typical gaming company can't accept to make small changes to gameplay, they have to go extreme - and PES 15's tactical attitude was a gamebreaker for me.

I'm going to stream about 2 matches on FIFA 14, feel free to join in. I'll try to be mic'd up as well.

Matt, fantastic, fantastic, fantastic stuff on that twitch stream! Great information.

I fired up PES16 again, passing is definitely a little bit too "accurate," pin point to a fault.

I would like to hear your take on the following, give it a test run, and see if this is exactly what you're referring to with regards to pass accuracy. If so, I could put this on the wishlist on PESFan and EVO-WEB websites.

I did a quick experiment. And you know what makes the passing absolutely organic looking and makes the ball loose in PES16 -- is to simply use the "through-pass" as your primary pass button. Don't hold down the "through-pass" button, but simply tap it. Sometimes you may want to hold the "through-pass" button down a little longer if you need to make a longer pass, but the idea is to use the "through-pass" button for more organic looking passes. No passes are considered absolute safe anymore. Never max out "through-pass."

With through-pass, the player receiving the ball needs to make small and sometimes large body adjustments, or simply run to meet the ball on receiving the pass safely.

With through-pass, I can now pass it into space/vicinity and there's that "element" that you were referring to in your twitch stream. This makes trying to "ping-pong" your way down the field extremely difficult, almost impossible.

Unfortunately there's no way to get the CPU to use "through-pass" as their primary pass button.

I guess now that's one "solution" to PES16 overly accurate passing, is for Konami to make "through-pass" as the primary pass button, along with a second "through-pass" button that truly acts as a through pass. Or simply have "through-pass" as the definitive pass button. If the player needs to legitimately execute a through pass, simply hold the "through-pass" button longer.

Maybe even if FIFA16 implemented the "through-pass" button as their primary pass button, it could even take their passing to the next level of organic passing.

Re: PES 2016 Demo Available Now on Xbox One and PlayStation 4

The "dead ball" situation you guys describe is a big factor but both football videogames can't implement it and probably we will never see this. It's a pure simulation aspect of the game, adds unpredictability/randomness and it's where player individuality can really play a major role.
Right now simply forget it. You can force this situation by playing all the time with the through pass but you won't see cpu sending balls like this. This applies for both FIFA and PES.
Unfortunately both football videogames are far behind the sports videogaming competition because EA and KONAMI devs want to satisfy the casual football fans which are the majority. The only way to see a football simulation in the future is a focused release of a big league. Example:
2k Football World: English Premier League. That way a company (2k in my example) will have the time to focus in player individuality and separate team tactics. The game initially will only have two Divisions (Premier League and Championship). This means only 42 teams. Then every year the game will expand (fully paid annual DLCs/Expansions) with new country leagues+European qualification (Champions League/Europa League)+changes in player ratings, rosters and team tactics.
I know though this won't ever happen.

Before Fox engine, I would lower the short pass accuracy by 30. Instantly the balls would be played into space and the effects of pressure mimick what we see IRL, which in turn will create the pass accuracy numbers we're looking for.

Edit: forgot to say, the problem with that reduction in pass accuracy was that the passes were so far off, it was tough for the CPU to formulate an attack. Regardless, I'd love to see what PES 16 would look like with that modification.

In PES, is it possible to create a realistic World Cup? I mean, can you choose the stadiums? Can you choose for the crowd to be neutral or divided in halfs instead of having a home and an away team? Thanks!

Did you guys play football or watch enough football on TV? If you did you would have another opinion...

btw I saw some Fifa 16 beta footage on youtube today until EA banned the videos. The gameplay and goals looked very nice and much more realistic than PES. And I saw FOULS!!! I'm really looking forward to the demo...
I don't want to start a confrontation, but it seems you did not read my review fully. I did point out that I play the demo at -1 or even -2 speed. The game gives you the option to reduce the speed, so not sure why you would want to to bring that up as a problem. Also, Konami have said they are working on the lack of fouls. These are not deal breakers at all. The flow of the game is more important than stopping it every 10 seconds for a nudge.

I do play football twice a week and have done so for many years, so not sure where you're heading with that assumption... If you like Fifa, good for you. I also like it for certain aspects and actually preferred FIFA last year to PES. I just think Konami have really improved PES this year base don the demo.

To each their own I suppose...
