Re: Madden NFL 16 Community Impressions

I LOATHE the fact that they changed the online H2H to eliminate all options.

I finally figured out that if I did not select AND save my custom playbooks before EVERY game that it would default to the Team Specific books...had to suffer through 3 games with playbooks I did not want because of that little gift...

The biggest thing to me is why take away options like the ability to choose the weather? or the stadium? or the time of day? or the uniforms? WHY?!?!??!

I get the fact that some online players would abuse this by wearing mess up combinations or matching dark-on-dark jerseys (or white-on-white) to mess with people, but you always had the choice to simply NOT PLAY THOSE PEOPLE if you just paid attention during the match-up screen!!

I spend nearly 90% of my Madden time online because I find the CPU to be wholly predictable and inadequate as an opponent by October every year and I play Madden year-round. This year's game does a TON of things I really like (and a few I find insufferably bad too), but this lack of online selection options is really pissing me off. If these options get added back in to the game as DLC my head will explode.

EA...when making these decisions of what to leave alone and what to sztrip out of the game, it is ALWAYS the right decision to leave it in and allow the players to control things more NOT LESS!!!

What's really bad is that I can change everything in Practice Mode but can't do it in the games online at all.

I also think the idea of not allowing you to see what team your opponent is using is a hideous decision as well...there were hundreds of times last year where I would try to match-up against my opponent - either for playing rivalry games like Cowboys-Eagles or Bears-Packers or to get better match ups if the opponent wanted to use lower rated teams or higher rated teams...now? GONE.

Then there is the fact that you could choose to play random weather conditions (which pretty much NEVER cahnged from default "partly cloudy") or the rain, snow, wind, day, night times...now? GONE.

You could mix up the stadiums and use London or Fawcett or any home stadium in the online games...now? GONE.

EA Sports has literally killed off 90% of the options available to make online games more fun and more variable rather than completely boring and controlled.

Hideously bad decision Rex. HIDEOUS! Congratulations, you finally made a game that seems like it has real promise and real football mechanics and enforces better decisions and rewards good play calling and match-ups and then you ripped the options for online play (and ONLY online play since I can change these things offline line and in practice modes) completely out of the game...

I'd smack my head in angst, but what's done is done and this heinous decision has ruined my M16 experience.

Qb accuracy is perfect! Qb awareness changes the whole game! Nice upgrade in that department

Peoplease can't be pleased or I guess be bothered with sliders.

I just hope the Team doesn't get inundated with crap like this, and opt for a change.

They are great now. Good QB are accurate and bad ones are bad.

Re: Madden NFL 16 Community Impressions

I said it before, I will say it again. Stop playing MADDEN like everybody was conditioned in doing their entire life time and play actual football. Also stop messing with the sliders right off the bat. I read so many people on here on day 1 the 1st thing they did was put in sliders they been using for the past several years.

That is a big no no this year. Game plays damn near perfect on default. This year if you NEED to change sliders, plus or minus 5 in either direction is all you need. Finally Madden is ratings based. If you are doing terrible in an area, look at the players in that area ratings. I guarantee they are rated poor for what you expect them to be able to do. Honestly that is how it SHOULD BE.

For the 1st time ever you can not play the same way with every team and every player and rely solely on your stick skills. In the past people stick skills made poor players like hall of famers. Now this year you can't. That is the way it SHOULD BE.

For those of you having a hard time running, I strongly suggest you do the Hard Hat Skills trainer. It is imperative this year to actually count the people in the box you trying to run to. Free defenders no longer get tangled up coming through the hole. If it is 4 of them vs your 3 blockers, that free guy coming through and meeting you in the backfield. People really need to get into the habit of flipping the run play at the LOS or simply changing the play to something completely different. Forcing a play is a no no this year.

I would also suggest people learn to tap the LT button this year when you are running. Hesitation for the 1st time since it was put in Madden actually works this year and works very well. It can make the difference between you getting blown up in the backfield or throwing that free defender timing off just enough that he runs passed you in the backfield. It can also be used to allow your blockers a tad bit more time to get out in front of you.

It really comes down to knowing the team you are playing as personnel. Can't force plays this year relying on your stick skills. Can't force defensive linemen to do things they aren't rated high enough to do either. People want instant gratification EVERY PLAY. Doesn't work like that this year and it shouldn't anyway. Also can't expect to run behind poor offensive linemen and expect to have success either.

Those are the only things I have tweaked as well.

Exactly!

If they ruin qb inaccuracy that would be a deal breaker for me. It's perfect as is.

Re: Madden NFL 16 Community Impressions

I will withhold my OVERALL GAME score until after I actually get to play the game in CFM and go through a few seasons utilizing all of the modes tools etc.. It's easy for most of us to say this game is amazing after a few days(me included) but for me I like to play the game modes I prefer for a few weeks before declaring it a success or failure. We all have our favorite modes and play differently but I am fairly certain the core of our time is in CFM. EVERYONES DIFFERENT.
There truly are a lot of positives in this years game and I echo all the positives from previous post. Graphics and lighting are very well done as are the WR/DB interactions. QB PLAY IS PERFECT. No need to change anything and bring back robo QB. I like where they are going with gameplay and I am very happy to finally see a meaningful difference in gameplay vs last years madden.
The major issue I am having a tough time swallowing is the fact that we were marketed a game mode that is clearly broken and would never have passed any sort of quality control testing if one was in place??? Like most I am dying to dive into a multi year CFM but can't unless I wanna play a semi-finished bug ridden mode (think Rory PGA game). I understand things sneak by and bugs happen and I know they will try to patch bugs THEY deem appropriate. I do feel like I was mislead in what I was lead to believe the game would be and that's just me and I in no way am speaking for anyone else. I applaud EAs efforts in this years game but my gut is telling me CFM is the red headed step child of modes in Madden. It's like they are telling us what modes we should be playing if we want a great gaming experience and its not CFM. Honestly if the current trend with CFM continues that would make me a very sad gamer. I hope they see just how many of us loyal customers play CFM as our main mode and probably only reason why we purchase this game annually. It's clear CFM gets far less attention and creative development vs the money maker modes. I will remain optimistic that the patch will fix CFM bugs at least most of them and hopefully gameplay will be IDENTICAL in play now and in CFM. Overall good effort by EA and I hope the CFM issues were things they didn't know about and work quickly to fix them.

Absolutely agree with this.

The sliders I am getting together are not drastic at all. It has been a wonderful experience playing M16 so far. Lot's of concerning bugs need to be hammered out though as far as CFM and commentary (finding more and more wrong lines every day). But gameplay wise the game is outstanding out of the box.
