I feel you on this, the online is making strides, but its so difficult to program realism when facing humans who are doing everything they can to exploit game mechanics.

Serious question, why do you expect SIM results if you don't play on a SIM mode? Are you playing in a online league with all OS members?

And before you tell me I'm ignorant, every single one of my friends play like "cheesers", as that's how most casuals play the game. I realize that before I invite them over, as you should realize that before you jump online. Food for thought.

Yup. But it's challenging. I enjoy stopping their little cheese and seeing what strategy they going to come up with next once their "trick" don't work.

Looking forward to the patch just to see how they are addressing the blocking. That's going to be interesting

Hey man, I don't think ur ignorant at all. In fact, u do make a solid point. Why expect sim results when I'm playing online? Good question. However, I don't expect 100% sim. It's never going to be. I just don't like things like Rubio blocking dunks. I can except it as an abnormalite, just can't be the norm as it is. That can be fixed. Has nothing to do with a particular game mode. I think the shooting grades are off as well. Which can be fixed, not tied to a game mode. My issues are within the core gameplay.

I don't expect online users to play sim. I just get frustrated when I can't punish them for it. Usually these are game play issues. The other annoying thing is the jersey section process. Not sure who's ideal it was to make ppl select jersey prior to match making but they dropped the ball with that one. Playing white vs white is annoying.

Well put and understood. Some of the tactics can be countered though man like the blocking one.

For example, If you press square instead of using the shot stick, for some odd reason 2K will make it the most advantageous animation for the defense to block the shot. Utilize the shot stick and like real life, protect the ball with the rim and dunk/layup with the left if the defender is coming from the right. Even if you don't get the finish, you'll usually get the foul. Guys at my crib will block each others shots all day and play me and be like wtf, that's suppose to be a block....with Rubio (24th letter, thanks for that one man)

Nevertheless, the jersey thing is indeed stupid! Try out using the shot stick when driving and let me know how that works out for you!

It's the challenge of playing against a human. Also, some people just don't have time for leagues, just want a quick game, or don't like playing against the AI all the time. Most online gamer recognize people will use "cheese" tactics to win. What a "sim" player is looking for is the challenge of competing with their stick skills and basketball knowledge WITHOUT pushing aside their integrity for the game of basketball (i.e. if you cheese me, then I'll cheese you back harder). Once you lose your integrity for the game then you're no longer playing basketball...you're playing a video game.

NBA 2K11 was last game (my opinion of course) where stick skills and basketball knowledge meant something. In NBA 2K11, it didn't matter what you "cheese" you came with (minus the spin dunk exploit), you could beat that nonsense 90% of the time with "sim" basketball.

Yes sir, I'm with you. That's the same reason I invite people over my house. I know I'm going to be the only one running plays, adjusting my defensive settings to a tee, manual subbing ect.

And of course this is just my opinion as well but I think basketball tactics prevail against cheesers this year. Last year I won about 75% of games playing against my kin folk I invite over. This year, thus far, I am undefeated. YMMV

What about points in the paint during simmed games being far too low?
