Considering the initial review scores and all of the patches that have come out, what would you rate it now? What did you initially rate the game? I'm interested in giving the game another look.
If you didn't like it on initial release you still won't like it.......

Dang, there have been a few games that I liked better after extensive patching, was hoping that was the case here as well.

That's not even close to true IMO.

They've added several courses, and offline game modes, and many tweaks to gameplay over the 9 or so updates. It's changed and grown alot.

Career is still... shallow. However, all the new courses appear on the career calendar, so its technically grown. Customization still lacks. No new equipment or clothing was added, nor was any character appearance options.

Online, I can't speak for. I don't play it online.

However, with all due respect, to say you probably still won't like it... I just don't get that opinion. It's changed, alot.

I'd recommend firing it up, and playing some rounds, and jumping back into career if you started it. As I mentioned, all the new courses released will seamlessly integrate into your career schedule.

The newest update from last week also allows for alternating venues for the US and British open.

so, alot has changed that's improved the game. Unless you're looking for customization.

I'll find out soon if they added it to career mode, I'm in year 10 and haven't played in a while but luckily when I fired it up the last place I was at was the tour championship with a fresh season around the corner.

I just started year 7. And the third tournament of the season was at Banf. I can't remember what it was called, but it was definitely a new tournament.

In terms of gameplay and presentation, it isn't a bad game of golf. Bought it for $16 and I'd say it was a decent deal at that price. Career mode needs a lot of work, of course, as does the commentary - lots of repetition and stuff said way out of context. If they could do two separate commentary teams, one for Thurs/Fri, one for Sat/Sun, that would probably be ideal. The "cut scenes" also need a lot of work (why is my character flipping out over every drive he hits in the fairway), and I wish there were more appropriate statistical overlays/analysis. To go with that would be stat tracking; I'd like to see full leaderboards, my scorecards from every round in every tournament, etc. Better character creation goes without saying.

Other than shallow career, the only problem I'm finding is the game seems too easy. Of course I'm a series veteran so that's probably part of it, but even playing with less forgiving settings it seems all the courses play the same way so far (though I've only played four or five courses). The Golf Club is considerably harder, I will say. I do hope eventually the courses start having different feels to them.

I imagine they won't be releasing a sequel until 2017? I know they said it wouldn't be a yearly release, which I'm absolutely fine with. I hope they really take advantage of that extra time. Even comparing this to TW '14 it is way behind in many aspects, though I will say the gameplay is probably the most polished aspect and that's hugely important when considering future additions. Maybe physics needs a bit more tweaking. Getting that Masters license back would also be fantastic.

Got to my first US Open post patch, and Oakmont is the host. Love it. So glad rotating majors were put back in!

This game on the hardest level of 3 click swing is the single toughest way to play any golf game, IMO. And the difference here is its not artificially difficult like some golf games are. 3 click is just a tough but fair gameplay style.

I find myself doing two or three practice swings on almost every shot, to "groove" my swing so to speak, just to get a feel for what I need to do. It's much more preferable to the twitchy analog swing in this game. I wish the devs could find a middle ground between the dial-a-distance analog swing of old and the twitchy unrealistic analog swing in the last few games.

Until they do, 3 click is the way to go and with each new course they add, how you play changes from tournament to tournament now so much. Just a wonderful job.

Also, Tour Pro is is not the hardest setting. You still need to customize it to get the hardest swing difficulty. I miss a lot of fairways, even using the analog stick. Three click is harder, and I may switch to that.

I find the gameplay to be damn great. At $16, it's a steal. At $60 it was way overpriced. But since then they have added many courses, some offline game modes, and tweaked the gameplay in good ways.

What they have now is a game primed for a real AAA release.
