All Offensive and Defensive Schemes In The Game

Per the Ultimate Team Deep Dive, it looks like 19 total, 10 offense and 9 defense.

Looks like we now know what the flexbone style schemes will be called in "option"

I'll be interested to see what the difference is between some of these schemes. Seems like there would be quite a bit of overlap between "Power Spread," and "Spread option."

With "Air Raid" and "Veer and Shoot" options along with "Power Spread" and "Spread Option," all being forms of a spread offense then I wonder what the default "Spread" scheme is.

Also interested to see if there are any major differences between some of the similar schemes. I'm very interested to see how the playbooks are differentiated. Hopefully more specific to each team's tendencies in real life and less like Madden's generic playbooks.

If a team runs x, y, and z concepts the vast majority of time and never runs a, b, or c, I hope the playbooks actually reflect that. They certainly haven't in recent Maddens given each team's playbooks is 95% the same stuff.

Boys….I’m having one HECK of a time deciding which type of offense to go with my dynasty.

As much as I love flexbone (ground and pound guy at heart), I find it hard to produce realism if I were to accept a job in the big conferences. They just don’t run an option scheme like that in the big ten or SEC.

I have 10 days to figure this thing out!

I think you can still run a flexbone in those big 2 conferences and it be close enough to realistic. Vanderbilt, Rutgers, Northwestern, Minnesota, Indiana, Arkansas I think you could run the offense in and that make sense.

Listen, I'm not for over the top ridiculousness. That said, we are operating on a suspended plane of reality in a video game. Just because no current school runs a option-base offense in a larger conference doesn't mean they can't & won't.

Football is cyclical. I mean look at RPOs. That is an option play. Plenty of teams are using RPOs as part of their base offense. It's just not dressed up in the flexbone formation. Jamey Chadwell is running tons of midline & veer out of the shotgun at Coastal and now Liberty. Paul Johnson ran flex at Tech. The option is still very prevalent in college football - it's just dressed up differently. Plus, with defenses getting smaller, faster and more athletic, we're gonna get back to a ground based attack at some point. Everything happens in cycles.

Me, I'm veer, midline, zone all day and I'm probably gonna still pass 15-20 times a game. I'm gonna run the ball...a lot...and with lots of option plays. I 100% plan to use it in my coaching dynasty when I get a Power conference job too. It's not as unrealistic as you are thinking it is.

I went to Youtube to study up on the Veer and Shoot and came across this video. I'm liking what I'm seeing with this scheme, especially if UNLV's playbook is accurate as to what they run in real life.
