Won the Big XII with Iowa State - didn't make the playoff playoffs

Not sure how the game calculates which teams make the playoffs but with Iowa State I played 10 power 4 schools - Iowa plus 9 Big XII opponents. Went 10-3 winning the Big XII championship game. Didn't make the playoff while 9-3 Texas Tech - which didn't make the championship game in the Big Xii - did make the playoff.

My first 3 seasons - coach mode - I failed to make a bowl game. 4th season I win the conference and thought winning a power 4 conference would get me into the playoffs.

Do I need to run up the score on teams? EA should give some info on how that is calculated.

Not sure how the Big XII ended up not being one of the 5 best conferences. The game is supposed to use that model as it's what the CFP is using this year, so the conference champion should automatically go.

Might be worth making a thread in the Bugs section for CFB 25 on the EA forums.

No conferences are guaranteed a spot but 5 conference winners are.

So it would be conceivable that a conference winner is left out while a different conference member gets an at large bid. Has already happened in one of my dynasties.

This type of scenario will happen in the NCAA so this wouldn't be a bug issue.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nca...ule-bids%3famp

This link explains how the CFP will work using last year as an example.

Directly from the article:

The new 12-team College Football Playoff field will include the five highest-ranked conference champions, which will receive automatic bids. The seven highest-ranked teams remaining will round out the 12-team format.

The top four teams will receive a first-round bye to the quarterfinals.

I know there has been confusion about this. But to OP, if you were the 6th highest ranked conference champion but ranked 13th overall on the CFP polls, you would be out of the playoffs per the rules.

There is no automatic bid for the P4 champions.

Out of curiosity, did you do any realignment of conferences? If you did return the PAC to the original 12, they become a power conference and it creates 5 power conferences. So if you were the 5th ranked conference champion and 1 G5 champion was ranked higher than you, you would be on the outside looking in, especially if you were not one of the top 7 remaining ranked teams.

No realignment. What's interesting is Texas Tech made the playoff but did not make the Big XII championship game. I beat BYU who I had already beat in the regular season.

10 power 4 schools on the schedule plus a power 4 championship - if that happens IRL there will be some upset football fans somewhere.

I find it hard to believe that a 10-3 Big XII winner wouldn't be one of the top 5 conference champions. If he's not, then that's a polling logic issue. He also has a better record than the other team from his conference that did make the playoff. Any time this has happened IRL that has not been the case.

If OSU and Michigan are both 11-1 but OSU goes to the Big 10 title game based on beating Michigan h2h, and loses to 9-3 Iowa, it makes sense if Michigan goes to the CFP over any of them in that scenario. 9-3 Texas Tech making the CFP over 10-3 Big XII champion Iowa State does not make sense.
