BAP realism with 20 minute periods

UPDATED 1/18/25

BAP sliders

I've got the periods back to the full 20 minutes like I wanted. I stick by my fatigue values, at least for BAP. Forwards are on the ice 45-75 seconds per shift, and it takes almost 2 shifts of sitting to get back to full energy. My line 1 RW ends up with 20-21 minutes of ice time per game. I also got hits down to where I want them, with a team RARELY going over 30 hits per game.

A couple screenshots from my last 2 games are at the bottom of this post. These were both wild shootouts compared to most of my games. Cheryl did NOT like the defense being played.

Hey all,

I've had a couple people on Reddit asking me to post my sliders. I've been tinkering for a LONG time, and I've come up with a slider set that works well for me. I'm always trying to tweak.

I'm going for as close to realistic outcomes as possible, using full 20 minute periods. I play BAP almost exclusively. I want to keep total shots between 25-35 per team per game, hits under 30 per team per game, with goals generally 5 or fewer per team. I'd like player shifts to be something around 45-75 seconds per FW shift. My actual scores tend to be lower than that, but there's an occasional big scoring outbreak, like there should be. If you're looking for end-to-end arcade hockey, this is NOT for you.

I've played around with difficulty levels, and keep coming back to Superstar. Not because I'm that good, but because it keeps my teammates and opponents from doing incredibly stupid things all the time. Guys still get out of position and make some terrible decisions, but it's a lot less than at lower difficulty levels.

I've never posted sliders before, so here goes...

Re: BAP realism with 20 minute periods

Post some box scores to see how it goes. These look good. I do not play bAP but I do play coach mode. I currently play 11 minutes. I have always wanted to try 20.

Re: BAP realism with 20 minute periods

OK, I played one. Period with exactly your settings on franchise mode Rangers versus Boston Bruins. I play as coach mode so they’re setting should be exactly as you are no human interference. The only thing I do differently is I do manual line changes for the Rangers. The thing that I noticed was fatigue was way too high that all of my lines were completely depleted by the 10 minute mark, which made everybody play a lot slower so I did make some adjustments for period two fatigue effect is going to be 85 for both CPU and human and fatigue recovery will be 34 for both CPU and human. I’ll try that for period two.

Shots: 7 Boston 18 NY
Hits:16 vs 15

Re: BAP realism with 20 minute periods

After 2 periods fatigue is much better. I think I will keep those settings.

Shot totals are high. But I don’t know if that can be fixed. Maybe alter accuracy a little.

2nd period shots 17 Boston vs 16 NY (2nd period only)

Hits 23 Boston vs 25 NY (total game)

Re: BAP realism with 20 minute periods

Ok at the end of game. The only change made for 3rd period was lower shot accuracy for both cpu/hum by 5.

Shot totals: Boston 33 NY 44
Hits: Boston 37 NY 38
Score Boston 3 NY 2

Overall decent stats.

That's getting pretty close to what I'm aiming for. I just posted an update with full 20 minute periods.

Re: BAP realism with 20 minute periods

OP has been updated for a full 20 minute period. In 20-25 games played (all BAP, but some games and periods simmed) I'm staying in my desired range for shots (25-35 per team per game) and hits (under 30 per team). Most of my CHL games were under 25 shots per team, while NHL players generate a few more. There's a lot of neutral zone back and forth. Trying to get through the defense on your own is VERY hard, at least for me, but I'm terrible at anything but the one-button DEKE.

Again, if you prefer the game wide open, with perfect passing, stick handling, etc, you will not be happy. This is for those that really want to grind.

Re: BAP realism with 20 minute periods

Are you swimming till next shift or watching the game from the bench until subbed in?

Thanks for sharing your work, your concept/stat goals is exactly what I’ve been looking for regarding BAP
