MLB The Show 25 - Trade Discussion Thread

Welcome to the MLB The Show 25 Trade Discussion Thread!

Bard here and ready to discuss deals this year with everyone! In years past, there have been formulas, websites, and the whole kitchen sink thrown at trade proposals. I have taken a step back the last few years, but I wanted to come back and work on some trades with everyone! If you want to use those such things, please let everyone know so we have a basis of what you would like, or if you are coming in blind just for some advice, that is perfect too!

Looking to make the perfect trade in MLB The Show 25? Whether you're building a dynasty in Franchise Mode or just need advice on a trade in your custom league, this is the place to discuss it all!

What You Can Do Here:

[emoji461] Post Trade Proposals – Share your trade ideas and get feedback.
[emoji461] Ask for Trade Advice – Not sure if you're getting a fair deal? Ask the community!
[emoji461] Discuss Franchise Mode Strategies – Talk about rebuilds, win-now moves, and future assets.
[emoji461] Share Trade Results – Show off the blockbuster deals you’ve pulled off.

Thread Guidelines:

[emoji818] Be respectful—everyone has different team-building strategies.
[emoji818] Provide details—when discussing a trade, include player overalls, potential, and contract details.
[emoji818] No spam—keep discussions relevant to trades and team management.

Let’s talk trades and build some championship rosters!

Re: MLB The Show 25 - Trade Discussion Thread

Glad to see your thread. Used to follow the trade thread daily. I've been a Braves fan for 40+ years and I'm hoping to start a franchise with Atlanta this weekend. Would like to start off with a SS not named Arcia. LOL Looking for trade suggestions to possibly land Bichette from Toronto or Tovar from Colorado. I realize Tovar is only 23 and Colorado probably isn't interested in moving him in real life, but in my franchise they could be. Thanks.

Tovar wouldn’t be on the table for a few years, if ever id imagine. Bichette would be super fun!

Re: MLB The Show 25 - Trade Discussion Thread

How realistic would it be for the Mets (me) to package 2B McNeil and 3B Baty together in an attempt to snag another starting pitcher with an OverAll of at least the mid 70's?

Let me check the last live roster update for MLBTS24. McNeil and Baty's OverAll in 24 shouldn't be too far off what it will be in MLBTS25. I don't necessarily want to part with Baty but I will if it means dumping McNeil's sorry ***.

EDIT Baty was a 69 OverAll and should have a one year contract of $800,000
McNeil was a 74 OverAll and should have a three year contract at $47 mill.

Let's get it!

I would prefer dealing Bichette out of the two, as he is a rental and "makes more sense". But let's do both.

Braves Receive:
Bo Bichette

Blue Jays Receive:
Cam Caminiti (MLB 88th prospect)
Nacho Alvarez Jr. (Braves #5 prospect)
Lucas Braun (Braves #11 prospect)

Bo is a rental, one elite prospect and two pretty good prospects should get this done. This also makes the Blue Jays rebuild, instead of trying to compete when they shouldn't be (imo).

------

Braves Receive:
Ezequiel Tovar
Jake Bird

Rockies Receive:
Drake Baldwin (MLB 62nd prospect)
Cam Caminiti (MLB 88th prospect)
Nacho Alvarez Jr. (Braves #5 prospect)
Dylan Dodd

Through age 29 in 2031 you will have Tovar at a pretty reasonable, cheap, price. It'll cost more. $187m value, assuming he is a 4 WAR player.

If you want to just sell McNeil, I would recommend sending him to Seattle for a SP prospect.

What a great thread, can't wait to get into a new franchise. I as well will be starting one with the Braves (early on) - after I get the roster figured out (adding Ian Anderson and if there's anyone else not in the game on release day)

however, you couldn't have hit the nail on the head better about this Arcia issue. The glaring weakness for the Braves.. I may slowplay it in year 1 and wait til the deadline comes around and see whose available and what teams are struggling and selling. I have a couple of guys I would like to keep my eye on.

Ha-Seong Kim or Jose Calaberro from Tampa Bay
Willi Castro from the Twins

Would the DBacks be in a spot to move Geraldo Perdomo, with the (hopeful) emergence of Lawlar?

Depending on playing time/injuries, would Josh Smith from the Rangers be available?

You'd like that, wouldn't you, ya friggin' Red Sox lovin' scoundrel!

Just kidding...Happy to see this back in action, see some healthy debates, and some great trade ideas! Let's goooooo!

Re: this trade, I'd be fine with it in July if the team is out of it, but there's a near zero percent chance that I'd even answer the phone before we see how things shake out in the AL East through the first few months. Lots of warts there this year with the Yankees losing Cole/Gil/Soto (they did pick up Max Fried but I'd like to see how Yankees Stadium treats him before saying they're still a top 2 team in the division), the O's lost Santander and decided that adding pitching is nonsense (then lost Grayson), and the Rays *should* be reasonably solid with that pitching staff, but also spend most of July/August on the road. The Red Sox are the only team that I'm truly worried about.

I just don't think you can go out and spend the 7th most money in the offseason, and have a top 5 payroll in the majors, then turn around and pull the plug on day 1 of the season. If you're the GM that does that, you're getting fired immediately (Which would probably make a lot of Jays fans happy, since they absolutely loath Ross Atkins).

Again, *IF* the Jays are flailing, no issue at all...Bo, Vladdy, Bassitt, Gaus, Mad Max, Green, Berrios, etc., should all end up on the block...but they have to wait and see how it looks before ripping that plug out of the wall.

Last thought-Bo's value is heavily weighted towards last year's injury plagued dumpster fire of a season...holding on to him to build some value *has* to be the play for a front office that traded 10 starts of a 4.75 ERA starter last year for the top end of the Astros farm system (He did end up dominating in Houston though!).

Cheers fellas! Can't wait for this year to get rolling!
