2001 World Series Roster Project

# Recreated 2001 Randy Johnson – In-game Appearance

Hi, guys!

I'm working on building a 2001 Classic Roster for MLB The Show, starting with the two World Series teams: the Arizona Diamondbacks and the New York Yankees.
I've already completed Arizona's 2001 season active roster (adapted to the current 26-man format), and I'm currently working on the Yankees.
* This project is special to me because I truly believe the 2001 World Series was the greatest one I’ve ever seen.

Of course, it’s not just about those two teams. I’d love to eventually build out as many 2001 rosters as possible to capture the full magic of that season. But as you can imagine, doing all of this alone is a massive task.

To give you an idea of what’s already been done, I’ll be posting screenshots of some completed players like Randy Johnson, Curt Schilling, Luis Gonzalez, and Damian Miller from the D-Backs, as well as Paul O’Neill from the Yankees. Some models are still being refined as I go—nothing is final yet.

As for some of them are already in the game, I’ve still chosen to recreate many of them because their in-game versions don’t accurately reflect how they looked in the 2001 season—whether it’s due to age differences or just off-model appearances.

If you're passionate about classic baseball and want to join recreate this incredible season, I’d love to have you join the project. Whether it’s roster building, stat research, or face editing—every contribution matters.

Re: 2001 World Series Roster Project

If I'm rating World Series down thru the years, I'd have to score the 2001 a ten of ten, none better.
But I do have the '97, '02, '11, '14, '16, '17 and '19 a ten of ten also. None better than '01 for sure, but it does have equals.

I’m still steadily working on this, adding many new players and refining the ones I’ve already created. It’s a bit frustrating doing this alone, because the progress isn’t as fast as I’d like.

I’ll keep posting updates and intermediate results along the way.

Oh yeah, the 2002 World Series was indeed thrilling.
I couldn’t watch the full series because I was serving in the military at the time, but it was an intense battle that went all the way to Game 7.
Out of the seven games, four were decided by just one run, making it an unforgettable matchup.
