NBA 2K9: A Cheeser's worst nightmare

These past days I have been mostly playing offline or 5 on 5 online but last night I decided to play some online head to head games.

When I did manage to connect to a host, the three times I did I just so happen to get connected to a cheeser but I am absolutely loving it. I love seeing a cheeser not being able to effectively have their way in this game and I think it will force a lot of them to learn some actual basketball strategy.

The first game I played was against someone using the Rockets, my favourite team happens to be the Lakers but I didn't want to be mistaken for a cheeser when I was selecting my team so I went with the Blazers.

This guy played full court defense the moment I won the tip-off and make me wonder if his steal button was stuck because it seems he didn't stop pressing it. At first it was very annoying but I just stuck to the way how I know how to play and that is as sim like as possible.

I ended up winning this game by 1 point after hitting a game winner with Bayless. I can just imagine his face when the shot went in.

The second game I played was more of the same but by this time I was a little more practiced for online play, knowing when to release the shot as opposed to offline play, so at the end of the 2nd quarter I was up by 15, guess what happened next...... message displayed Waiting for host (34), lol guy pulled the plug, usually I get upset when someone does this but I just laughed and decided to start another game, this time I led 22 - 11 at the end of the first quarter and again Waiting for host (34), another cheeser too embarassed to finish.

All in all, I am optimistic about the prospects of online gaming, pretty soon the cheesers will get so frustrated they won't have a choice but to play basketball or return the game.

Cheesers don't have the luxury of playing who ever they want anymore...
So you won't see 1000 game ranked win streaks

Based on my experiences thus far then I disagree. I think when playing a cheeser you just have to tighten up on some things more. Try to find what they believe is their strength and take it away, for instance, the second guy I played was using the Nets and seemed to take the Half man, half amazing concept a little too seriously, this basically just in bounded the ball to Carter, dribble the ball up with him as if Carter is his point guard, attempt to drive to the hoop for a layup or dunk, etc. I simply just took my best defender and assigned that player on Carter while I control my big man guarding his worst big man who I know couldn't hurt me if left alone

Did the Vince dude quit? I think I will just sag off of most folks if I decide to go online and play randoms

Most certainly did.

I think I need to adopt a new approach so that I can finish these games with the cheesers. Let the cheeser lead you while keeping it close and late in the game try to win it.

Seems whenever you have too big of a lead, they will quit

I agree w/ the OP. My friend's favorite team is the Celtics b/c his favorite player is Ray Allen. He's borderline cheese. Tries to do all kinds of iso in the paint w/ Garnett. Tries to steal everything.

Ended up beating him by 20 w/ t he Pistons. He had fould galore and Garnett was ineffective.
