Instant replay of Show versus 2k9....discussion

I'd like to get opinions on the difference between these two games, specifically the replay modes. Let me start by saying I have both the show and 2k9 for the PC, which I find is very cool. Both games have some awesome replays that happen automatically during gameplay, but the replay mode itself seems weak.

In the SHow, there is a limited area that the camera can move, and that means that the replay cannot follow the ball everywhere and the camera get's stuck in places, making your saved replays look....well...weak. You can't really even see where the ball lands half the time on homers. Overall the interface is not intuitive.

2k9 handles this better as it allows the virtual camera more area to move around so it is more likely to follow the ball through an entire play without getting stuck everywhere. I also noticed during replay that the clouds in the sky of 2k9 look amazing! I have a 30" Dell monitor that is 2560x1600 and the game runs smooth at this rez too and the colors are brilliant. I have to give the edge to 2k9 for replay controls but neither are very good.

Here is the other issue that really diffferentiates the 2 games.

2k9 does not track the time of day ( in the replays that is), so when I see a replay from the 1st inning which was in daylight, it is presented to me in the lighting that is current. So if it is now post game the play from daylight is now shown as if it happened at night.

The SHow tracks this and it really adds to the immersion and reminds you that this game started earlier in the day.

Why can't these guys (SCEA and 2kSports) add cameras ala MVP2005 that emulate TV camera positions? That was the bomb and really added to the realism. This is how I'd prefer to save my replays, like a television highlight....not somebody moving a virtual camera around a field trying to focus awkwardly on the action. Nothing screams "video game" more than this to me. I want immersion....and I have to give kudos to Madden for giving you "broadcast style" camera angles to save yout replays.

Any opinions on this? Just looking for a friendly discussion and perhaps someone will educate me that you can do this in these titles too! Maybe? A guy can wish...right?

Well I do think its pretty cool that the 2k9 has the reelmaker mode where you can save your best replays with whatever angles you want and various effects and such.. and upload them to the net.

You could simulate whatever look you wanted with that, though obviously its a bit time consuming and has nothing to do with the replays shown in the middle of the game.

theres a reel I made to show what you can do with it for those who might now know.

Thanks =)

I actually did have music on it and a few sound effects(swing and miss sound effects on the strikeouts), but they didn't come through in the upload i guess. It also wouldnt let me upload it at all when it was 45 seconds, had to trim it down (some of the faster cuts now..) to get it to go at all.

There are about 20 songs to choose from.

I'm playing this on the PC so I don't think I have access to the reelmaker. I just wish I could save a highlight and choose the press camera that you so often see for baseballl games that is from up behind the plate in the stands.

thanks.
