How do you handle trades on the Show?

I only will accept a trade based on if i believe its a realistic trade. I had the choice in my cards franchise to trade khalil green and colby rasmus for Hanley Ramirez. I think that trade would help my team alot, but dont think it would ever be a realstic trade at least right now in MLB. So i am asking do you cheat the system to get trades in your favor? Or do you post any restrictions on your trades?

The only trade i did so far was to trade Adam Wainright for Fransico Liriano. I thought it was fair and Fransico Liriano is an amazing pitcher for me this year. Right now at 32-20 on my franchise.

I traded Scott Downs for Mike Jacobs in my Blue Jays Franchise as i was desperate for a left handed power hitter (Snider and Lind only have C potential in my rosters). Through 4 games Jacobs is hitless with a walk anf 5 k's

Re: How do you handle trades on the Show?

if I think a trade is going to help my ball club and is within reason financially, then I'm going to pull it off.

I am in the middle of negotiating a trade(well I am in my head) two trades:

One that would send Chris Duncan to the Rockies for Taylor Buckholz and one that would send Wainwright and Glaus to the Yanks for Robinson Cano. Still thinking these over.

Re: How do you handle trades on the Show?

Me personally I like to do a lot of trades, however I'll only trade for players that actually have a realistic chance of being traded in real life.
If I ever get to start a Blue Jays Franchise(When they make Sniders potential A...btw I'm going to mention this in any post I get chance to until they do it)I'm going to look to trade for or sign;
Roy Oswalt, Paul Konerko, Jermain Dye(To DH), Chris Davis, Taylor Teagarden, Clay Bucholz and Justin Masterson.

After that I probably wont make any more trades.

I'd hate to have a team of all-stars it would bore me.

The Greene/Rasmus trade for Hanley is surprising that the computer would accept it...I wouldnt do it personally but its your Franchise...if I were you I'd trade for a SS like;
Guzman, Hardy, Betancourt y'know a player more likely to be traded...but who is still good.
The Liriano/Wainwright trade was you ripping Minnesota off a bit...but like I said...your game.

As for the Bucholz/Duncan trade...if I were you I'd try to trade a few more pieces to Colorado and get Huston Street...I wouldve thought CP was the Cardinals biggest need.
The Glaus/Wainwright for Cano trade seems awfully stacked in the Yankees favour...I would think SP would be their least need...what with their offseason spending. Whos gonna play 3rd for you with Glaus gone? If I were you...actually I think the Cards should do this in real life...I'd give them Rick Ankiel for Robinson Cano...a pretty fair trade imo.
Glaus and Wainwright for a shaky Cano is not a good deal for you.

The Scott Downs for Mike Jacobs trade is pretty bad for you buddy...Mike Jacobs is not very good; OBP of .300 whilst playing awful D at 1B.
Trade for Chris Davis if you need a Lefty power bat off the bench...you'll have to give up a lot...but he can play the bench for a year then take over 1B for the next 5-10 years.
If not then sign either Edmonds OR Gonzalez from FA.

If you are looking for some left handed power off the bench at a fair price, consider Shin Soo Choo ( Cleveland)....plus he is a decent defensive corner outfielder. As far as trades are concerned.....I try and make them as realistic as possible.. more often than not I end up "shorting" myself trying to be fair ...I play two Franchises...both as the Mariners...one I keep the rosters exactly as they are in the MLB...the other I let my inner GM take over and I make trades and sign free agents. Also....IMO I would stay away from Try Glaus, injury prone and declining skills....

Re: How do you handle trades on the Show?

I try and keep things more realistic. For some reason Minnesota would trade me Liriano and Guerrier for Furcal and Wolf, ratings wise it might equal out since Furcal is rated so well but trading an aging SS and an even older SP for a young stud in Liriano makes little sense. I was very tempted to pull the trigger anyways since Minnesota is really struggling but for now Im going to hold off.

Lastly, it seems that Boston is hell bent on trading Beckett as I could damn near trade them anything for him, Furcal straight up gets me Beckett. Now he is having a terrible year with a ERA over 5.00 but to trade him away for a 31 year old SS doesnt make much sense either.

As of right now the only deal Ive done is trade Casey Blake for Chone Figgins, thats it.

Is there anyone here who wouldn't do this trade...

Having filled 80% of the trade bar up...I can trade Lance Berkman, Carlos Lee, Miguel Tejada to Boston for Kevin Youkilis, Jason Bay, and David Ortiz....I'm playing with the Astros trying to rebuild....

Re: How do you handle trades on the Show?

In my franchise, i'm looking to move Aaron Miles sometime before the start of next season, and i'm in a toss up if I should move Fontenot or Theriot. I wanna try and give a package deal to the Brewers (i'm willing to give up Miles, Fontenot, or Theriot in it) to get Alcides Escobar.
By doing this I wanna develope Starlin Castro and Ryan Flaherty and have my infield consist of Castro, Escobar, and Flaherty by 2011.
