Mike Tyson's back, will Jordan?

Just wondering if anyone knows why Jordan isn't on the games? Obviously its a contractual agreement somewhere but I haven't seen a game promoted with Jordan's name on it.

I personally dont play with throwback teams so I like how his legend is kept alive by the Player of the Game.

Anyone ever figure out how to unlock customizable shoe?

Re: Mike Tyson's back, will Jordan?

The last game I remember playing featuring Michael Jordan as a Chicago Bull was the NES version of Tecmo NBA Basketball (around 1991-92). From there I remember Jordan releasing an adventure game for the SNES titled "Michael Jordan: Chaos in the Windy City". I always figured Jordan was not a member of the NBA Players Association and chose to sign his own deals with products (like Barry Bonds years later). So if that be the case, Jordan's deal with the company who created "Chaos in the Windy City" may have conflicted with any other game company deals. Or perhaps Jordan's asking price for inclusion into official NBA games was too steep.

Either way, Jordan eventually made an NBA-game comeback with EA Sports NBA Live 2000

This deal with EA Sports is likely what allowed such extensive use of his likeness in EA's NBA Street Vol. 2 in 2003.

Further, upon his return to the NBA with the Washington Wizards, Jordan appeared in all licensed NBA video games to the best of my knowledge (Live and 2K for starters) hinting that he may have joined the Players Association or became a part of whatever NBA process that allows players' likenesses to be used en masse. Upon his retirement in 2003, Jordan presumably reestablished "retirement" status which necessitates game developers to seek out and offer deals to players individually to use their likenesses (from what I gatherd from the 2K NFL Legends creation).

However, I never really understood why Jordan or his company would permit the extensive use of the Jordan Brand line, in essence plastering Jordan's silhouetted likeness all over the recent 2K and Live NBA releases yet refuse the use of Jordan himself. I would think the appearance of Jordan would only further endorse and enhance the mystique of Jordan products.

Last game I remember him on was NBA Live 2004. He was in the Legends pool I believe.

One of my favorites of all time. LOVED this game. Bought it on PC and for my N64.

Jordan isn't a part of the retired players union. That is part of and the main reason why you don't see him in any of the games now. Same reason why there is no Stockton, Jerry West, and until this year Pippen and Malone. If they wanted Jordan in they could always negotiate with him to be put in but I'm sure they price would be more than they want to pay.
