Running problems vs. CPU

How the heck are you supposed to have any semblance of a running attack in this idiotic game?

I am playing on A-A with Arkansas and haven't been able to run against any defense, whether they are rated 'A' or 'D'... all defenses seem the same. I try mixing things up, inside, outside, play-action and I throw a lot. Oh yeah, I have my running sliders set at 100 and have moved break block and tackling for the CPU down to like 40. Maybe I need to set CPU defensive awareness down to 0.

I am extremely frustrated.

I have good success passing early in the game, but without a running game the passing gets harder as the game wears on.

You just have to keep at it. I don't know what kind of offense Arkansas runs, but I've had a lot of success with Michigan's spread offense. The QB choice option plays are good because you can see where the defense is lined up and then either keep the ball or hand off to the HB to go the other way. I also tend to run to the middle a lot early to get the CPU to stack the inside and then later on in the game start mixing in some toss plays. It definatley takes a lot more patience this year to be successful compared to last years game. Also, set up plays definitely help.

Iknow your pain. Entire first half vs USF I was only getting 2-3 yards per carry. About midway through the 3rd quarter in a 10-3 game, the 3 yard runs became 5 yard runs, and I was able to take a toss out of twins left, and take it 74 yards. Just as in real football the DL gets tired, and you break a few more tackles.

Just gotta stick with it.

I play with PSU on heisman, and TBH its been too EZ. my HB is up for the heisman and I have been shelling teams throughout my dynasty. The CPU can't tackle.

Anyone else think heisman default sliders is too ez. Maybe its cuz im PSU.

Well it could be your RB too. If your using Michael Smith he might be really easy to take down since he's all of 5'7 or close to that. Use Broderick Green with the power O and you'll get some yards. Just be patient and it'll open up a decent size hole.

I think its hard to break the long run but getting 5-8 yards every carry isn't bad. Also, sweeps don't seem to work as good as they used to. You can't score on every play so if you use that I would cut it down a little.

Then if you're in shotgun or something you can always switch to a run if they have only 5 or 6 in the box and get some yards.

Try turning the CPU Rush defense slider to 35 or 40, the tackling to 45 and the Human RB ability to 55 or 60.

Exactly. That leads the D to where you are as soon as you get the ball, get the hand off and follow your blockers, when you see a opening hit the sprint button then. Kinda like real life, the HB don't just sprint, unless it actually a long outside sprint play, as soon as he gets the ball, he wait until the OL set up his blocks.

I fairly well, I get around 175 yards a game.
