What's good about controlling all 30 teams in Association?

What are your reasons for why this is a great feature?

I am not sure. I primarily play offline in association with this game but I am not sure why this woud be a good feaature. Seems like it would be too much to do and you would never get through one season.

Did you read the article from Game Informer? They explain why there.

Re: What's good about controlling all 30 teams in Association?

some people might want to play through the season as games happen in real life. i personally make trades in my association that happen in real life and this would make it so much easier, rather than doing 3 team trades and trading back and forth til you get the trade right. however having to sim every game for the other 29 teams might be just as tedious.

Yeah, I read it after I posted this but...still not sold on it...In 2k9 association, you could resign and control any other team and make trades. This with the combination of 'alllow cpu trades' set to off allowed me to 'control' all 30 teams.

Am I missing the benefits of this?

I agree with you portlandblazer, I see it more as tedious when having to 'sim' all the other games....

I imagine in 2k10 that it would be way quicker and simpler than doing the method you stated for 2k9

Re: What's good about controlling all 30 teams in Association?

I for one love this ability for several reasons:

#1- The NBA Draft. When I get to the offseason I'm going to draft the best player for each team, I don't have to worry about the T-Wolves getting another PG.
#2- Free Agency. I can sign guys that make sense for all the teams. Last year the Trail Blazers had a bunch of cap space and would always sign Steve Nash and Carlos Boozer after Season 1...which wasn't what I wanted to see.
#3- I can make trades based on what is going on in my Association. Let's say the Clips are having a bad year in Season 1 of my association. There are some solid PG prospects in the upcoming draft and Baron Davis is not getting any younger. I can look for a playoff team who needs a veteran PG in exchange for a young player with promise. Basically I can rebuild team and gear others up for a playoff run.
#4- Lineups. I can look at teams and give people the minutes I think they should get. I can also prevent jj redick from ever taking another shot in the NBA, which I am going to enjoy very much.
#5- Coaching carousel. It's not too in depth, but this year they are supposed to have assistant coaches if I've read things right. NBA coaches are in & out faster than any other major sport, so this should be fun.

I could think of more, but five should be enough to suffice for now.

Bottom line: if you are a one season player, I don't really see what's so great. I don't get the obsession with making all the real life trades and transactions...isn't that what the real life NBA is for? Isn't your season supposed to follow your own path? If you play multiple seasons like myself, I see HUGE value.

*Disclaimer - I play 29-game seasons because it doesn't take away from the experience at all*

SO basically you are complaining about having the OPTION of doing something? You know you don't have to use this feature.

What is there to be sold on? You SEE and have READ why it needs to be an option, so what needs to be sold to you?
