Can someone explain...Please

How the influence right analog stick works as well as the swing direction in zone? First off I only play online so I do not even know if they are used and if so when and how are they utilized?
It says the swing direction in manual says press and release? When before the pitch,and when I practiced hitting it only stayed where the stick was kept. Any imput would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the right analog stick is only used to influence a fly or ground ball. Just push up on it before the pitch to try and influence a fly ball or down to try and influence a ground ball. Doesn't seem to work too well though.

My real question is the left analog stick
