Most Strikeouts in a Start

Curious to know what is the most batters you have punched out in 1 start?

Today I struck out the side in the first 3 innings with Justin Verlander against the Mariners. That gave me 9 K's through 3 innings.

Final Line: 7 IP, 8 H, 0 BB, 11 K's, 2 ER, 112 pitches

Unfortunately, Seattle started to figure him out. They battled back and tied the game late, and Verlander got the No Decision. Bummer. I was really hoping for the "A Good Start" trophy for 15 K's in one start. Couldn't quite make it.

EDIT: I am referring to those playing on All-Star or higher in a simulation style game. Not 27 straight K's on Rookie with a beefed up pitcher.

I had 14 with Brandon Morrow of the Jays a few weeks ago, but I also lost, to the Yanks and Phil Hughes 2-0.

I remember the best I've EVER had in the history of The Show for me was 15 in MLB '08 with CC Sabathia. We won that game like 8-1 I think, and he went like 8 innings 110 something pitches.

In MLB 10 I think I reached 13 with Ubaldo Jimenez in an exhibition game against the Marlins(yes JJ against Ubaldo, how clever of me). He threw about 118 pitches over 8, and we won like 3-0.

16 with my RTTS pitcher against the Royals. CG, 0R, 4H, 16Ks. I gave up three hits in the ninth, luckily the last one was an infield single and I didn't give up any runs. The last out of the game was an infield pop-up that I caught, which also gave me a trophy.

I had a 1 hit complete game shutout with Jeremy Bonderman against the pirates, ended up with 14 K's one shy of the trophy .

My pitchers always start strong and ill get 5-7 K's through the first 3 sometimes, but thats if they are bringing their "A game".

Sometimes, ill get my face pushed in as the opposing team hits me all over the field.

Either way, my pitcher always starts to fade after about 3 or 4 innings and strikeouts become rare.

The most ive ever gotten was 17 with Dice-K. The closest ive came to matching that is 12 or 13 i think. I still dont know why Dice was killing em that day. Tampa no less.

I struck out 11 Cubs several weeks ago using Jon Lester. Thats the most I have recorded with a single pitcher.

The most I’ve had in this year’s game was 18 and that was through 8 innings but in the 9^th inning the CPU got all swing happy and I had 3 ground ball outs so it was 18k through 9 innings in the end. This is down from my mark of 22k CPU batters in MLB 09 The Show.

I haven’t been able to duplicate the 18k game since then, I had a 16k game in franchise but I haven’t been able to duplicate that mark either. This year vs. the CPU its even harder to strikeout batters. Also the umpires will screw you out of a few strikeouts by squeezing the zone. Actually the umpires play a large role in determining how many strikeout you will have.
