Bump and run coverage

I have Nnamdi Asomugha on my team, 97 PRS. Every time i run bump and run coverage against a scrubby reciever he gets beat on the press and i get bombed on. I press coverage broken? If not, how do i fix it? Frustrating.

Look to bring pressure so that the bump n run doesnt get exposed. Bump N Run is a high risk high reward tactic to use on defense.

Over the course of time we have all been spoiled with how Madden reacts to the bump n run. This year they got it right! You cant call bump n run every time as locomotion has changed hte game! Once a player gets beat on the bump they dont have the recovery speed they once had!

If you are going to bump be sure to bring some heat so that the QB doenst have time to make a read!

Yea the Bump and run is a risk reward type deal. Even the best of CBs get beat down field sometime. I use Bump and run most of the time. But most of the time it works for me but I do get down field sometime.

Do you think its spot on this year? I think its pretty close to how it should be.

One thing that does frustrate me is how you might call bump n run coverage but the defenders dont line up across from there counter part. This will allow the WR to sprint right by them as the CPU goes to make the bump on thin air.

To remedy this look to manuall slide your defenders over their intended WR. If they motion there WR look to audible out into zone as once you touch your defender thats in man to man coverage they wont move

Well the thing is for years Bump and run didn't really act like bump and run because Weight and speed never really come into play in madden until this year. Now that locomotion is in the game this year. Yea can tell that weight and speed and accel. Makes a big different. I got one CB whos speed is 83 and accel 91. If I play Bump and run and the AI does a streak. That CB gets beat because his speed is 83. So this year Locomotion has really made it where must choose to when to use bump and run. I use it most of the time. But I also blitz when using it. I get burned some tho. No lying about it. But Speed and Accel. got to alot to do with how good your CB will stick with the WR on routes.

Re: Bump and run coverage

DC's in the NFL don't typically use press coverage on blitz calls. Press coverage is for disrupting the timing of routes like slants and curls, in medium-yardage situations. Calls like Cover-3 Press give your zone defenders time to read their run/pass keys and get set in their zones before the receiver beats them there. On blitzes, especially man Cover-0 plays, the corners should be playing man-off, flat-footed with eyes on the QB waiting to drive on the ball when it's thrown.

In other words, you shouldn't be running press coverage without safety help over the top. I find it to be quite realistic in this year's game, though DB's still don't run underneath inside-breaking routes like they're supposed to (they do this in NCAA, which is why slants isn't a money play in that game).

Re: Bump and run coverage

I only use press on occasion, like someone said, if I have safety help over the top.

I typically control Taylor Mays, so I usually do press if I have a double on someone. If the CB gets beat, the safety is still locked in man on that receiver to pick up the slack, and there's an over the top zone on the other side to pick up the other receiver.

I think was frustrates me is that it's easy for the CPU to beat me in press coverage for a big gain, but I think I've only managed to ever beat the CPU's press coverage once.
