Lead Passing Mechanics?
So I think I understand how to lead pass, but I'm not sure if I understand how much you can lead pass. This is my current understanding of how to lead pass:
- Tap RB/R1 to get the Icon Passing menu
- Hold direction on LS of direction you want the player to go
- Press button of the player you want to go in the direction
So far so good (or at least correct), right?
I will mention these directions using the 2K camera, where up is up, left is left, etc ... using this as my example:
PG is at the top of the key
SG is to the right of me around the curve of the top of the key
I press downleft on the LS ... and press the SG button so that he comes towards me for the ball. That works. I tell him to drift farther to the sideline on the right so I press ... right on the LS and the SG button. That works. Now, I tell him to move forward towards the baseline closer to the basket ... pressing UP on the LS and the SG button. That doesn't work! I've tried different release points.
It seems like forward movement doesn't seem to work for lead passing? I've seen forward lead passing work when the "momentum" of the player is moving, but never when they are "standing still".
Anyone know what I might be doing wrong? Or is that the behavior?
