A Bigger Focus on DLC in 2k12

Reading all these threads about what we want in the 2k12 and beyond has got me thinking about all these things to help make the next game better. DLC was the first and best idea that im sure im not the first to think of,but why not try and discuss how much better the game would be if requests were taken and added year around?

I as a hardcore franchise player would love to have DLC added to keep my game fresh, new, and just thinking of how cool it would be to look forward to a DLC pack full of things like new commentary lines, new shoes, hairstyles, facial hair, tattoos, accessories, updated player models/faces,more animations, jerseys, warmups, courts,or anything else that the dev team just didnt get to.

Maybe we could have categories setup that we could select one thing from each to update, and vote on them as a community for whats added into the game.maybe updates come once a week,bi-weekly,or even once a month.I would just be happy to have a constant flow of new things into the game, keeping it fresh.

We also have to consider how this would affect the normal dev cycle for the game.devs could spend more time on actual game modes and updates to existing game modes like myplayer, franchise, and whatever new modes are brought into the 2k series moving forward.this would also lead to a more fan driven game, and also more revenue through the downloaded content.

what do you guys think, can we benefit from more DLC,or do we need to keep it more traditional, and wait a year for everything?

i think the more realistic things get,the more the bar is raised and we start to compare the game to real life, instead of the previous version.how cool would it be to see a dunk, pass,or shot on sportscenter and see it in the game the next update...the possibilities are endless...

Jerseys and sneakers would be pretty good. But remember when they said they were going to keep the game fresh with new animations but it was just crossover and dunk packs that were already in the game but hidden.

If its jerseys and shoes actually added on the year and not hidden I'm all for it.

are you asking to be nickled and dimed? If its a matter of keeping the game fresh, time release certain shoes and jerseys.

Yeahhh... people want to complain about "casual gamers" but want DLC? Personally, I can see it for skill points like mentioned above(especially, y'know if they're going to continue to prance around and pretend starting off as a 40 something overall is actually fun.) But for anything else other than maybe shoes, or special retro jerseys, They could never justify not having these things in the game already.

Hopefully DLC will stay the **** away from my 2K thanks. If I want to pay for stuff I would have gotten free in the past, I'll put an EA game in.

Most people that want DLC will be the same people later complaining that PC users get to make the same DLC for free.

DLC needs to stay away from 2K. If they want to throw us free retro courts/jerseys our way during the season then I'm all for that.

Re: A Bigger Focus on DLC in 2k12

Pro evolution soccer destroys the competition in this area. they always release FREE dlc-shoes and jerseys that appear during the season. lets say nike introduces a new model of cleats halfway through the season. the pes team creates a render of the shoe(s) and releases them in a patch. 2k could benefit from this especially since players like lebron and wade debuted new shoes as the season progressed. also id like the ability for 2k to bring back real colorways. 2k used to have various models of the same shoe with actual colorways that were able to use on players. for example 2k6 you could unlock all of the lebron 3s that were released that year and they looked exactly like the colorways released in stores. give us authentic colorways or give me DEATH!!!!!!
