Wayne Gretzky..... and.... Wayne Gretzky.

Dude, there are like 2000 NHL players... everyone likes different players... This thread is about as useful as asking 'What's your favorite color?'.

The most rewarding for me is drafting and developing your own players and use free agency and trades to fill whatever holes are left.

Unlike the guy before I gonna help you out I would suggest you have idea of what kind of team you want and go from there ie if you want a team with a strong power play get offensive d men snipers and playmakers strong pk get grinders and power forward and two way players and defensive d men but I can't stress enough that you need to upgrade you staff in this order assistant coach ( he develops players) you medical staff(trust me get it to the max) then amateur scout and lastly pro scout( he is pretty useless) this is pretty general but if you tell what you want in your team and who your playing with I could help further.

Thank a lot dude, dont know what the hell im doing as ive always played fifa and on there i know in real life what youngster are going to be good as i watch a lot of foootball. As im in the UK i only get to see the odd game of Ice hokcey so dont know the future stars of the NHL part from the obvious ones that are impossible to get for my team on the game.

Re: GM Mode help!

If you are looking to build a team for the long run (which I enjoy most), then be sure to acquire young players with high potential. I also like to mix up the types of players on my lines (I am not certain this has any effect, but it adds to the fun for me) - maybe a sniper, a playmaker and a power forward on my top line, etc. Unfortunately, the game does not allow you to view all players at once, so you cannot sort the players in the league by age, potential or anything else (that would really help in building a team).
