Need hitting advice..

I seriously can't hit... Iv always been decent at the show games but I'm horrible at batting in this one. I'm playing on veteran and am thinking about putting it on rookie which iv never had to before. I'm using zone batting because I like the idea but it's so hard to see where the ball is gonna end up, moving the eye in e correct spot, and time it right while deciding if your even gonna swing at the pitch. Which brings me too another thing. Low balls. It's so hard for me too tell if it's gonna be a ball if thrown low. I swear it's comin right down the middle or low and it goes so low I can't even hit it. I tried putting the pitching speed down and using timing hitting but even with the pitch speed down I can't tell if it's a ball or not and when using timing your AI seems to automatically guess where the balls gonna be so it puts the eye in random places and I swing an miss or make crappy contact(it's when it shows you how late you were it shows the up randomly up high or low when the ball is no where near it) which I thought turning hitting to timing would eliminate the eye all together but I guess not. I need help!

I've been having trouble as well with zone and I went to timing. I lowered the pitch speed two clicks which has helped. I've wondered the same thing about timed hitting, why the AI jumps around. Can anyone explain the AI works, is it random or based off the user input?

Re: Need hitting advice..

I'm getting dominated by the KC Royals. Their starters are throwing complete game shut out's against me.

So imagine how I feel...

This is my first time ever playing the game in my defense. I went out and got a PS3 specifically for this game alone.

The game is really hard for beginners. My first year with it it took alot of practice before i could hit.

Re: Need hitting advice..

I am an uber beginner on the show and in order to enjoy the game I really tweaked batting in my favor. And as I sincerely try to get better, I'll make it more difficult.

Anyways, swallow your pride. Put hitting on rookie, turn guess pitch on, crank down cpu pitch speed, turn down cpu consistency and cpu throw strike tendency.

Now what I do is guess pitches in my hot zones and if I'm not right on both location and type without 2 strikes on me I take the pitch. I strike out a lot more than I would otherwise, but the contact I've been making has been effective.

Re: Need hitting advice..

Pick a zone and sit on offspeed pitches....you will be able to foul off fastballs and when you get a breaking ball in your zone then you'll cream it. You have to pick your poison.

I'd suggest to do some searches for hitting threads from last year. Here's one I made that has a lot of good info in it. Continue to ask questions and for help and you will get better.
